Thank you. Passing was perfectly fine without krob, and so was our attack. Against top opponents, Kelsey should not be playing , unless absolutely needed I agree, unfortunately. Everyone, including myself, had really high expectations for Kelsey, and she's not living up to them. Hate to say it, but she reminds me of Hildebrand. Although Hill's been playing well, we're still weak at the OH2 position. We need someone who can pass well, play defense, and not make so many errors on offense. I always thought Danielson would do well in this role, especially with the kind of offense Karch is running now. However, it doesn't look like she has any interest in playing for the NT. Agreed. But I do think Kelsey, over time, will develop into a solid player. She's just to young. And I agree about danielson. Minus larson, she would have the best defense on the team. And she's VERY low error. The one thing that would be a challenge for her is the block, but she might do fine. Karch was talking to hartong and danielson, according to Cindy Luis, so who knows. If hartong could improve her passing, I think she would make a great OH2, or at least a backup, but my money would be on danielson. Such a great player.

Ok, maybe stretching it. Hooker is a better player, but the drop off between MURPHY and hooker isn't huge. What makes Hooker different than Murphy is consistency. Hooker is able to perform at a high level for longer periods of time than Murphy, day-in and day-out. I think it's the blocking that is different. MURPHY, through nearly all the matches I've seen her, has been amazing, night in and night out. She's amazing. But she needs to work on her blocking. That's where hooker was great. She also needs to work on back row attacks, because correct me if I'm wrong, hooker was VERY good at those in the 2012 Olympics

Russia is exactly like usc. No middle attack and setting that is to be desired. (Although I don't know much about Russia's setter, so maybe it was a one match thing) and they rely HEAVLIY on their pins. But that being said, Russia's pins are extraordinary

Blocking is also an area where Hill needs to improve.

Blocking is also an area where Hill needs to improve. Which is surprising since she played middle for a while before moving to the left.

Perhaps South Korea will help Hooker re: (apparent) attitude issues and Karch will see this. They will make up and become the best coach/player relationship ever. (Lichtman will be jealous at first but soon be OK with it) There will be a lot of smiling and high fives between the USA Women's team as they beat Brazil for the gold medal on August 20, 2016. The semifinal victory over Turkey on August 18, 2016 will be a tough one, but because of Hooker's 28 kills in that match, USA pulled through. Karch and Hooker will hug after the last point and gold medal win against Brazil... all because of South Korea. In some alternate reality or timeline maybe. Everyone needs to shut up about this. Getting old.

Getting old. Can't blame people. Hooker was one of the most important people in the 2012 Olympics. she saved matches at times. Losing hooker is like wisconsin losing Hancock, or stanford losing Ajanaku. They have decent people to replace them, but at the same level. (MURPHY is fantastic though and an adequate replacement). Plus there is that mystery factor. People want to know the full story and won't rest till it comes out

Even though the pool is tough with lots of very good teams, you have to like the US's chances of moving on, already having the 9 points. I see it as a 4 horse race for the top 3 spots, USA, Brazil, Russia, and Serbia. I think it is going to be tough for anyone below that to get enough points to advance. I think the matches will all be tough, but hopefully with the 4 set win over Russia, it will give the ladies a little bit more confidence. Hopefully they can advance to the next phase unlike their male counterparts did in Poland. Nice win today, GO USA!!

Start a thread just about her so anyone who wants to talk about her can. USA played really good ball today against a huge Russian team. Look at the stats, they were good.

Brazil has been playing their starters so maybe they will be a little tired when we play them.

In some alternate reality or timeline maybe. Everyone needs to shut up about this. Getting old. It's so bizarre how some people let certain posts bother them - especially when those posts are not even directed towards that person. Example: kro2488. No one is telling you to open this website and then forcing you to read these posts. If you don't like what is posted on this website then open another one. It's pretty simple. Just a suggestion. You didn't ask for it. I gave it. I gave my... opinion, which in turn, is one of the objectives of this website, no? ( So bizarre, don't you think?!)Didn't kro2488 recently post on this website: "...Why do I even post in this forum? I'm the idiot..."Don't be so hard on yourself, kro2488. Life is too short to be such a pessimist - certainly at the age of 26. But let's stay, somewhat, on topic of this thread, shall we? Some are rooting for a comeback to the USA team from Hooker and some are not. And guess what? They ALL have the right to state their opinion on Volley Talk, whether the topic is new or old. Hooker is here to stay! And I'm sure there will be supplemental conversation regarding Hooker in the years to come. Oh, and if Hooker is mentioned in this thread it may be due to the fact that USA played against Russia today. Hooker has played against Russia and WITH a Russian club team. Perhaps Hooker was mentioned on this thread because Kiraly clearly is still searching for a player to replace someone like her at the net and the number of kills she can get in a match. Hooker is not permanently out of the question about rejoining the team. If she was, then sure, it may be time for us to move on. But that is not the case quite yet. There is a connection.Seriously? The @$@%%!!$ did I just read ?

Kro's afraid "VT" negativity regarding Karch and his team culture will spill out into the real world. He fails to understand the opposite is true, VT's only reflecting the current NT reality and this kumbaya pretense won't win Rio and most likely any other significant tourney beforehand. This insidious idea here of elite players showing politically incorrect emotion on the court as some measurement of the player having moral character flaws is ridiculous. Men and women go to war on the court as they should, but I've yet to see anyone from any NT intend malicious vitriol upon their teammates. Obviously players get frustrated in the moment with others, but what elite player worth their salt making a bad error would want their teammates to repress their reactions. It's bad enough Hooker clammed up in London against Brazil, yet Karch wants the team to have a clam culture prerequisite?

Coming from a female perspective, Destinee Hooker may benefit from a bit more time, after giving birth last December, to regain her world class level. It is just common sense. Her physical conditioning isn't the issue.
