And the bleeding in Big 12 Volleyball continues. Only a matter of time, if it hasn't happened already, before falling behind the SEC and ACC.

Purdue, USC, & San Diego overrated
If you compare Northridge's results (and they have not played a match at home) versus these 3 teams - and changed their name to any of these schools they would be ranked top 20 or better

Quite surprisingly, pablo has the Big 12 as the second-best conference in the country, behind the PAC and juuuust barely ahead of the Big 10. Big 10's average is really hurt by including the new teams. Fourth on the list is the WCC.

FSU 13-0 moves to #5 ...Highest ranking in history of school...pretty sure posters will start bashing this move to #5 but each week will give opportunity for Seminoles to earn the respect of the VT posters. GO NOLES !! No one is bashing this they are a well deserved team. I think FSU is quietly taking card of business. They can steal a top 4 seed and could be a team to be favored to make the Final Four. They are flying very under the radar cause the Top 4 demand lots of respect and look a lot better than the rest of the teams in the country. I hope they crash the party I would love to see them play any of the Top 4 teams and see how they do.

Flying under the radar is good and I do have tremendous respect for the PSU, Stanford, Texas, Washington programs among many others.. so to be among the top 5 is an achievement the FSU team does not take for granted.

Amusing that USC dropped, but not quite below UCLA (who swept them on their own home court). MikeG, I didn't get that either, question .... is the coaches poll exactly what it states, only coaches ? How does it actually work? I know the committee that seeds the tournament takes a lot from the RPI with a tiny bit of the poll added in. Sometimes I just don't get why the poll is the way it is. To be honest, I actually thought Texas was going to drop because of their week compared to PSU's week. Maybe the poll is taking in to consideration where they assume teams will be by the end of the season? Sorry, I asked you only because you seem to know how the poll sort of works. I see Hawai'i pulls into the top 25 again, which I'm happy for them, I love the Wahine so it's nothing personal, but does the poll take in "quality" wins. I guess what I mean is "quality" - "ranked" teams. Oklahoma beat Kansas but in Oklahoma so that dropped Kansas out of the top 25 and left OU still out. I'm just confused LOL

Also, I'm really happy for FL State, I posted this a while back but friends and I will travel to the Final Fours each year and when San Antonio hosted there were some people behind us making fun of them for making it to the Final Four that year. I was happy for them then, is their team even better now? They absolutely will make some noise in post season, and another thing, even though USC isn't playing up to their past seasons' reputation, I wouldn't want to draw them 1st or 2nd round because the moment they click they can be great!

It appears you didn't read my post clearly.
Aren't you the parent of a player in the Big 12?

I THINK STANFORD HAVING 55 FIRST PLACE VOTES IS DUMB... THEY DON'T HAVE LEFT SIDE ATTACKERS THAT ARE GETTING SET WHERE THEY NEED TO TERMINATE...

Amusing that USC dropped, but not quite below UCLA (who swept them on their own home court). USC's well below Kentucky (who they swept on their home court) UCLA still below Illinois (who they swept neutral) and USC A&M still below USC LMU still below UCLA (though both those two have bad losses) San Diego and Duke both ranked despite no wins over ranked teams and multiple losses to unranked teams. The poll is just weird. I think part of it is that results seem wonkier than usual, but who knows if that's just recency bias? LMU and UCLA have bad losses? UCLA's lost three to Top 25 teams (Penn St, LMU, Arizona) LMU lost in 5 on the road to a feisty Pacific team that is 13-2. Not top-25 but receiving votes. Pacific's loss to Oregon St is not too good but Ore st is better than years past. Pacific almost overtook USC at home too.

AVCA has requested that the NCAA use the coaches poll as information in tournament selection, but as far as I know the NCAA has declined to do so.
