Seeing USC have three Pac-12 FOY in 4 years... Brought back memories of Falyn.. Last year USC would have been deadly with Falyn & Bricio on the left and Nwanebu on the right.
This year USC will definitely not repeat. I think Scrambray will have a good chance for it.

Pretty stoked for Merete Lutz. Definitely filling nicely for Wopat. Hope Stanford picks up a top MB so Lutz can play on either pins (OH/RS) and she will be more potent.

Well they certainly need the help at the pins. The Senior (sorry can't remember her name) is a nice surprise, but Howard and Burgess will never strike fear into defenses. Eventually defenses will shift more focus to the middle and Stanford will have difficulty reaching the final four.

I still think Scambray would be a worthy FOY winner, but I'm starting to think Marshall is going to earn the win. Nights like she had tonight, carrying the team to a sweep over a top-25 team, are going to overcome the normal inclination to select the winner from one of the conference championship contenders.

I think Marshall is definitely the leader going into the turn. Shebby , Scambray, and Lutz (if she's eligible - what's the deal with redshirt frosh?) are back a couple of lengths, and coming up fast on the outside is dark horse...Reilly Buechler, who is quietly (it seems to me) hitting .312 in conference play and averaging 3.73 pps.

Marshall should win it, she is mostly the only reason OSU has won matches this year. If she's good enough to carry a winless team to some wins this year, it should account for something. I do still think Scambray will win it though, because she's a good contributor to a FF and maybe a national championship team. Which is fair.
Lutz is a dark horse (if she's eligible). Shebby will not win, way too inconsistent and really has been hurting the team as much as she helps them every now and then.

Buechler is DEFINITELY in the conversation. She was actually my pick to win FOY before the season even started. She's benefiting immensely from Lowe, but she still a solid player who has more opportunity for swings than say Scambray or Shebby. Marshall's big problem is that she doesn't play for a team in the top half of the conference.
IMO it's between Marshall, Lutz, Scambray, or Buechler. I still say Lutz shouldn't be eligible, she had her chance last year. I'm also not 100% convinced she can get it, anyone have an official rule? where is bearclause these days?

I think Lutz is eligible. the only redshirt freshman who won pac 10 FOY is Antoinette Polk from USC although that was almost 2 decades ago. This conference often attracts the best true freshmen in the country so the redshirt freshmen were often not in the discussion for this award. However, this year the top 3 ranked freshmen (Abercrombie, Gooden Smith and Gillis) were disappointing and Lutz has been exceptional. I still hope the award will go to Marshall so a new school will join the exclusive club for FOY winners
