That can't be true. Kokyu has told us that none of the current players can play and the coaches can't coach. So how can they win any matches? His silence when we win is deafening. He only pops up (off) when we struggle. I can't watch every match live, don't act like a sore winner. Too many of your posts are about me, object-centric orientation's unhealthy.

Serbia beat Netherlands, so I think an easy clinch is out. We're in great shape, especially if we beat Bulgaria tomorrow. Doubt Kazahkstan can beat Serbia, Netherlands lost three close sets. Serbia is four points behind us. You're right. We could mathematically clinch with a win tomorrow if Serbia lost, but they're not going down to Kazakhstan.

And for the record they have Brakocevic now.

I really like watching Kim Hill be more aggressive on the outside. She has really good ball control too. She's one of the main reasons why we haven't lost yet. A lot of people pointed out how Kim Hill would start dwindling right about now so it's nice to see that she's maintaining her high level of play. I think it's easy to see that she's light-years ahead of Hildebrand now.

I think it's easy to see that she's light-years ahead of Hildebrand now. Hill has been having a fantastic tournament so far. Her passing got a little off at some points but she held it together overall. Very impressed that she's added more heat on her swings. We used to just see her go offspeed or high seam all the time. Nice that she's had the confidence to crank even on out of system plays. Robo did well coming in for Larson. She's not at the point where she'll be a huge offensive threat, so I'm glad she plays two rotations w/ Murphy in the front row (I think that's how they set up for set 2 and on). Glass looked okay. She played amazing against Russia. She came down to earth a bit this match. Awesome match by Murphy. The US has a long ways to go before becoming a good digging team, but I can see the ladies are pushing really hard.

Larson actually appears a little under the weather in the first set.

The venue in Modena looked much hotter than the one in Verona. The players were sweating buckets. Banwarth looked like she had just walked out of the shower after just the first set.

Thank you for posting. This is the first 2014 WCH match I've been able to watch. Some observations: - The team is looking more comfortable with the faster offense. I'm still not sold on it being a good choice overall, but it's not the mess it was at the WGP. - That said, the middles seemed much more involved. - Jordan L-B did not look good in that first set. she doesn't look fully back yet. Robinson looked better. Hill was very impressive, the best I've seen her and much improved over last year. Banworth was very solid and felt more reliable than Davis typically does. - I'm not a fan of the "everybody jump float". I have a hard time believing that Fawcett jump float rotation with Murphy setting is a good choice. Her jump float isn't significantly better than Glass' and the weaker defender, hitter and setter combination is ugly. - Why is rotation 1 with Murphy in left front? It pretty clearly creates difficulties for them. - Glass is the best setter in America. Yes, she sometimes makes "easy" mistakes, but for every one of those, she'll make about 4 plays look easy that can't be made by other setters. I think many critics just don't realize she does this and take those plays for granted. - Maybe I didn't see it, but I don't think Karch challenged any calls, including a couple that looked like obvious misses to me (first set, they interfered with a ball that didn't make it to the net, second set had a phantom net violation called). Challenging calls doesn't really cost anything and could gain points. - Have to give Karch credit for recognizing that Turkey was going high hands early in the 3rd set and for getting his team to adjust. In general, his timeouts were much more productive and engaging than last year's. Nice to see that improvement. - Kind of cool to hear the USA chants - The quality of the universal replay is awesome. Does anyone know how to fast-forward through it, though? I'm not a fan of watching the time-outs.
