Who is this Karsta Lowe I heard she is pretty good at this game volleyball haha joking its real a two person race for Pac12 POY with her and Vansant also NPOY even.
Congrats to Bugg the PAC hasn't recognized many setters this season Bugg is a huge reason why Stanford is as good as they are good to see her get some recognition. Buechler is playing well for the Bruins them getting two players to receive awards when is the last time that happened.

Look at the list of winners from the past decade+ and you will see that almost always the NPOY comes from one of the Final Four teams. If UCLA and Washington both advance deeply into the tournament, then we can start talking about this. That being said, I think Vansant is way ahead of Lowe in terms of potential for NPOY if both teams advance that far. Maybe it would be different if there were an Offensive NPOY, but in terms of overall complete play I think the comparison is (right now anyway) rather definitely in favor of Krista over Karsta. As far as conference POY goes, I think we are looking at several factors: 1) Final placement of the teams (maybe it shouldn't matter, but it does, likely to favor Vansant) 2) Play in non-hitting facets of the game (favors Vansant) 3) Hitting stat numbers (favors Lowe) 4) Confirmation bias (favors former FOY, former POY, former NPOY Vansant)

Saw Madi Bugg lead Stanford against the CU Buffs, and she was great- but interesting a setter has now won the defensive award before any libero or other defensive specialist. (Definitely the Rodney Dangerfield of volleyball positions (a reference which, now that I think of it, probably only older folk will get.))

I am saying I wonder what or how coaches will vote I think that Vansant is a better all around volleyball player but what Lowe is doing with the amount of sets she is getting is crazy. She is truly carrying her team with a very good hitting percentage. If Lowe wins more POW awards overall it will be interesting how the coaches vote as to see who the final POY is.

I think the problem is that they don't know how to write the press release for DPOW unless they talk about how many kills and assists the winner got.
As a side note, whoever selects these winners was mightily impressed with UCLA's win over Oregon, because they highlighted it in the statements for both Lowe and Buechler.

BTW, I thought Sommer could have easily deserved a win for DPOW, but it's *really* hard to win one of these awards when your team goes 0-2. Still, she was fantastic.

Lowe and Buechler actually didn't have eyepopping numbers against Oregon State. Both their aggregate numbers still looked good because of how insane they were against Oregon. I think both players have had better weeks (Buechler especially) but this was the first weekend in conference UCLA didn't split, so that probably gave them the bump in voting.

The difference between Lowe and Vansant is Lowe can started a match on fire but tapered off because of fatigue when the match went to the distance, Vansant always raise her game when it mattered most, she is very tough mentally

But in the end I expect it will be a nearly unanimous vote.

We were complaining the defense award was going to middles (except last week) and now a darn setter! (Bugg was good). Liberos get no love.

Amazing Lowe's getting subbed out in games and still has 34% more kps than Vansant.
Cue: UW balanced offense defense from mike etc.

KPS: Lowe 5.91 Vansant 5.03 Hitting %: Lowe .320 Vansant .307 Aces: Lowe 0.18 Vansant .26 Digs: Lowe 1.85 Vansant 3.16 Blocking: Lowe .58 Vansant .87 It's clear that Vansant is much better in the backcourt, being a primary passer and defender, but we already knew this. But there are some other things that people are missing. Firstly, Vansant has better blocking numbers despite the fact that she's blocking the RS, which surely sees far less attacks than the LS which Lowe primarily blocks. Their hitting percentage is pretty much even, and the discrepancy in kills per set, which is Lowe's only tangible advantage, is actually getting smaller as conference play is continuing. If the awards were handed out right now, I think Vansant would easily get it.
