#14 finishes it off with a kill to end match and a win for Maryland. 1st win of season in BIG.

The setting in general has been atrocious in this match.
Any...Maryland puts this match out of its misery, thanks to Crutcher.

It's going to be a long, steep climb for both of these programs to ever be any good in this conference.

I see they are using Under Armour volleyballs. I had a sample from a couple years ago and I thought they were terrible. Have they improved it at all? I founder of UA is a Maryland alum. I imagine UA gear is all that is used at MD, unless they don't sell a particular item.

Have to give it to Rutgers especially...they put on a spirited fight. Hope they win a match before the end. At least they got a couple sets.

Band is playing Carmina Burana. Rainbowbadger...you are an educated person! Music major. I've sung Carmina Burana so many times I could sing it in my sleep. Even more fun if you know what the Latin means. Also pleased to hear about Aird's work with Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and getting some attention for their charity, the SeriousFun Children's Network (summer camps for disabled and critically ill children, founded by Paul Newman). Phi Tau is a particularly important part of the Rainbow household. Aird is helping the Maryland chapter organize a 5-on-5 volleyball tournament fundraiser for SeriousFun. They apparently have >50 teams enrolled already. The student section tonight was full of kids in Greek letters, including Phi Tau. If Aird keeps this up, I might just have to become a Maryland fan.

Interesting the comments about the announcing crew. I would take this pair over Mike Hall and Audrey Flaugh any day of the week.

Carl Orff is easily my favorite Nazi of all time.

He wrote alternate music for some ballets when the original pieces were banned because they were written by Jews (like Mendelssohn).

Band is playing Carmina Burana. Rainbowbadger...you are an educated person! I picked up on that too! (The Carmina Burana). An odd choice. (although for this match maybe it was appropriate...) As a related story, our local public radio station (Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin) was playing the last movement of Beethoven's 9th while the match was going on. I had the match muted and the music blasted. An interesting dynamic. I think the game went on so long because neither term has any terminating hitters.

If I were calling a match from a remote site, I sure as heck wouldn't want to have to depend on what the director of the telecast wanted me to see. It's hard enough to do it without being hampered by someone showing you a closeup of a coach while the other team is subbing. Just for instance.
