Interesting the comments about the announcing crew. I would take this pair over Mike Hall and Audrey Flaugh any day of the week. What is wrong with Audrey Flaugh? Aside from the fact that she is (gasp) Canadian, I think she does a good job. I think Mike is mostly useless though. I've always been a big fan of Audrey Flaugh, but in the two matches I've seen her this season, I didn't think she was as sharp as she had been in the past. She repeated a few themes a few too many times ("brave outside hitters just going for it" for example). But I still think she's pretty good. I disagree with you about Mike. He's an announcer without (I believe) a volleyball background, who still does a pretty good job -- though there certainly are better ones out there.

Julie Herman please rescue Rutgers with your impeccable coaching skills.

If I were calling a match from a remote site, I sure as heck wouldn't want to have to depend on what the director of the telecast wanted me to see. It's hard enough to do it without being hampered by someone showing you a closeup of a coach while the other team is subbing. Just for instance. These announcers were on-site, and not remote. And when the announcers are remote, they typically have access to several monitors, and not just the one you see on TV.

It's going to be a long, steep climb for both of these programs to ever be any good in this conference. Yes, I agree... I watched most of the match and sometimes it was painful to watch. It almost looked as though it were a game of "keep the ball in the air" instead of trying to score

That would be another reason for missing the ref's call. Too MANY monitors. If they had been remote. Sounds like they were just incompetent. Occam's Razor.

Doesn't help that Rutgers still isn't at 12 scholarships. Volleyball, evidently, isn't much of a priority at RU. Per its web site, home attendance this year has averaged just 151.

It probably wouldn't have helped much in the B1G but Maryland lost their best hitter/blocker on the second weekend of the season. They are a better team with Adreene Elliot on the floor. She was averaging almost 4 kills/game when she was injured.

It's one thing to not see what the ref signals. Audrey likes to explain her interpretations of the rules. Unfortunately, she's often wrong. Kind of a credibility killer for me.
