I will NOT stop harping on how overrated Miami of Florida is ! How do you feel about Kansas? Kansas at #24 in RPI is slightly overrated. They have six losses, all to teams that are top 50 in RPI. Lipscomb is the worst , in 5 sets. They also lost in 5 sets to Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Kansas State. They lost 3-1 to Texas and were only swept by Penn State. My only complaint is they havent really beat anyone. They have one top 50 win over Creighton.

Some important results for everyone:
Wyoming has been climbing in RPI and just beat UNLV in 5. The win keeps their tournament hopes alive, and if they beat Colorado State.. Will they get in? I'm not sure but any MWC loss and the Cowgirls are out.
American lost to George Washington in 5, hurting their at-large chances.
Santa Clara just beat BYU, BYU will be unseeded. Santa Clara is going to be in the NCAAs, I think.
San Diego just lost to San Francisco. so, when the Toreros are bad, they're REALLY bad. They lost the first two sets and were down 10-1 in set 3. San diego has a plethora of wins, and San Francisco is not that bad, I think better than the 111th team in the country, which is what i think their rpi is.
LMU beat Gonzaga in Five, 20-18 the final set score. I think Gonzaga really needed this for the NCAAs(2wins over LMU). LMU really needed this win. Without Dewitt, they may not have got it.
Seton Hall and Colorado State handle their business in conference play.
Important games tomorrow: SMU / Tulane Northwestern / Michigan Utah / Arizona State illinois / michigan state Pitt / Virginia Tech USC / Wazzu Texas A&M / Alabama Hawaii / UC Irvine Marquette / Butler
SMU needs to keep winning to keep their at large alive
Northwestern and Michigan is like an elimination game, both of them getting into the NCAAs is questionable
Utah can get back on the bubble with a win over Arizona State, theyll need to do more than that
I have a hunch Pittsburgh is going down tomorrow. Virginia Tech has lost in five sets SIX times this season and they pushed Florida State to the BRINK. watch out for the upset. If not there, it might be on the west coast:
Hawaii needs to take care of UCI because even with breathing room in the RPI their resume looks kinda shaky. But still, no panic for the Wahine. (Yet)
Michigan State with a win will reallly help their at large chances..
USC needs to beat wazzu for .500 sake.
Alabama beating A&M will get them a ton of respect and pretty much punch their ticket.
The Marquette / Butler loser may be in trouble of making the Big East tournament. Thats Not so much a huge deal for Marquette besides seeding concerns, but a death sentence for Butler.

The WSU at USC match is going to be interesting.
USC coming off a hard-fought Weds night loss to UW...probably fortunate that it ended in 3 sets. WSU has been off all week and has some weapons and is capable of hanging with any team in the Pac.
My money would be on USC (probably in 4) but I won't be shocked if WSU plays lights out and pulls off an upset.
(Finished waffling.)

You really think the committee would select a team that comes in 5th and doesn't even qualify for the Big East tournament???

Conference Finish isn't that important usually. Big East is not horrible either. Xavier and Creighton are at-large Candidates, Seton Hall and Butler are 60s in RPI, just outside bubble range.

San Francisco is not the 111th best team in the country, They are the 111th RPI team. massey says they are the 59th best team - that's a whopping 52 point disparity - USF may well be the most grossly undervalued team in the country by RPI.

Pablo has San Francisco at 78. They still lost to Denver, Utah St. and St. Mary's (which is BAD this year). They're not a terrible team, but it's not a good loss and is a match a bubble team needs to win.
San Diego and Santa Clara have enough wins on to overcome it, but they wouldn't object to the Dons winning 2-3 more to sneak into the RPI Top 100.

I still maintain that, with a favorable bracket, any of the top 8 teams right now in the PAC (including USC) could end up in the Final Four.

The only two teams I think that are capable of a final four run, outside of UW and Stanford in the PAC, are USC (they need to have a healthy Nwanebu) and UCLA (favorable bracket and Lowe's arm not falling off). I think Oregon can get to Elite 8 but don't have the total horsepower to get by a Stanford, UW, PSU, Texas, Wis., etc.
