Intriguing opening in the MWC coming soon. Let me guess.....there will be a lot of HOWLING with this opening??? The only other job in the MWC that could open up is one with a Bull Dog....but I doubt that one. Lets just say a predator is involved.

Sign of the times that a school like Loyola fires a coach after 4 years, for losing ! Especially since they just moved into a far more competitive conference. They are understaffed (1 part-time assistant) comparatively and underfunded for where they are now. Good luck to the next person!

Patriot League has many schools that are funded worse than Loyola. American is the only one fully funded on scholarships. Loyola would be a great opportunity for someone that enjoys coaching in a high academic environment and they have very good facilities. It's never just about losing. Their starting setter missed the entire conference schedule due to season ending injury.

He clearly had his chances. Four years should be enough just to show some progress, but team went down. Patriot league is maybe a better conference then MAAC, but not so much better to go 0-16. Times when Loyola was every year in post season are long gone and they need some serious upgrade. Good school, great location, nice facilities, recruiting should be fun with NEQ next door every year.

When was Loyola in the post-season every year? My impression was that after American and the Academies the rest of the schools in the Patriot were around 3-4 scholarships. Am I wrong on that? The NEQ's in Baltimore are 16 and younger which, yes, is recruitable, but it's a lot harder if you are only offering 1/5 of a scholarship. Granted, they shouldn't be losing to Coppin St and they should win more than 3 sets in conference, but this job isn't all rainbows and ponies.

Rainbows and ponies are achievable.

Which makes me believe this had to do with more than simply his win/loss record.

No, I think it probably is just win/loss, but I'm not sure I expect the next coach to do much better. Some administrators want wins without putting in the investment.

They had a good stretch from 2007 to 2010, when they finished in top 4 in MAAC and went to playoffs. In 2007 (last year for K. Hernandez before she moved to Hofstra) they went 22-12 and 13-5 in conference play. Once Nina Camaioni (not sure if spell it correctly) graduates they started to drop down and as I mention before, moving to Patriot did not helped it either.
