Take a trip to Poughkeepsie and you'll understand. Regional school in a non-volleyball region getting to the top of their conference is pretty good. Sorry my mistake, should have read the whole article. His last couple of years his winning record was much better,,, started slow then built program. Good luck to Akron and coach. Would love to see the MAC get stronger. Wise self correction. But honestly, if you were a coach with a very high winning percentage, like the one you felt would have been better, why does THAT coach take a bottom dweller like Akron? If you have years and years of winning where you are at, then why leave to take on a project? This program is going to take work, and someone who knows how to maximize with minimal resources. Looks like they found the right coach, because outside of Fairfield, Siena, and Niagara, the MAAC is pretty poorly funded after those schools. That's why regardless of who is coaching, Fairfield, Siena, and Niagara always seem to float near the top, they outclass the others in resources and scholarships, and it's rare to outcoach that. It's Division I, but not very strong. That is why this is a sensible hire. No conference championship, but considering the resource inequality of programs in MAAC, this coach seems to have done a great job. Give him 12 scholarships, comparable facilities, and comparable resources against the rest of the MAC conference, this appears to be a very smart hire. The MAC is pretty strong as it is I think, but yes, this will help.

The last couple of years when his record was getting better, was largely due to the assistant coach he brought in (who just got to Lamar). Now does he try to bring her back on staff, to do what they did at Marist? They had a recipe for succes that worked before, or would he try to find someone new, to do the same thing? This would be an upgrade in location, conference, I would assume pay, and would also bring her closer to home..

AND bring in someone that maybe he couldn't afford with the previous the salaries at Marist. Best of both worlds. But maybe Lamar is working for her. Would you want to leave Texas and no winter for Ohio? I wouldn't.

Maybe someone looking to wash the smell of Beaumont out of her clothes...and a native to the cold, upgrades in all the other areas are worth breaking out the cold gear again.

Remember my first match against him! Congratulations, buddy! Your hard work and dedication pays off! Wish only the best! I believe he will do pretty good job in Akron! Just afraid he will work 24/7 and sleep in his office

Dartmouth has filled their assistant coaching position. Look for an opening in the South!

It took 7 years to get any relevant success in year 8 and 9. There are no fast turnarounds, and anytime there is the legality and morality of the blueprint is questionable. But what I have discovered, Division I usually doesn't care about morality. All these young bean counter AD's with their quick trigger is only delaying the success of their programs. You can't apply standard business principles to everything. And athletics is often one of those things. And from what I heard, whoever took the other MAC school job better be prepared for that.

Any word on Gokhan Yilmaz, former FSU asst and Charlotte HC? When is Xavier making their HC announcement? Has asst moved up?

Xavier just announced. Moved up assistant. I haven't heard a peep about Prentice. Not sure if she's looking. I heard Barmes turned away some offers. Not sure if he plans on staying or is looking.

Is this posting just a formality, and Katie will move into that position after being a grad asst? Not true. This is a real search.

Maybe I've missed this in this thread, but I haven't seen it mentioned: Former Penn State Player Alyssa D'Errico was named to Louisville's staff.
