Hope in the same regional as Wittenberg. Ouch. The penalty for losing the conf championship at home I guess. Who would also have to play Juniata in the second round assuming both advance. Tough sledding.

Did Hope and Calvin NOT put in a bid to host? They've been #1 and #2 virtually all season.

There are a lot of ways to analyze the regions, but a good place to start is to look at the Pablo rankings for the teams involved. Remember there are 8 regionals, so in each grouping, only one team will advance.
7 Emory 101 Webster 20 Millikin 33 Thomas More 58 Hendrix 70 Maryville (Tenn.) 8 Wash.-St. Louis 94 Bluffton
27 Williams 229 Sage 68 Babson 145 Colby-Sawyer 56 MIT 158 Rivier 44 Bowdoin 268 Regis
6 Carthage 37 Dominican (Ill.) 15 DePauw 18 Chicago 17 Elmhurst 10 Wis.-Whitewater 2 Calvin 30 Wis.-Oshkosh
13 Chris. Newport 137 Gallaudet 35 Stevenson 52 Richard Stockton 58 SUNY New Paltz 73 Haverford 9 Eastern 334 Salem
5 Cal Lutheran 54 Whitworth 32 Trinity (Texas) 38 La Verne 25 Claremont-M-S 29 M. Hardin-Baylor 28 Pacific Lutheran 40 Colorado Coll.
19 Neb. Wesleyan 64 N'western-St. Paul 24 Cornell (Iowa) 23 Augsburg 4 Wis.-Stevens Pt. 22 Saint Benedict 10 St. Thomas (Minn.) 15 Coe
3 Wittenberg 92 Cabrini 51 Washington & Lee 12 Mount Union 14 Juniata 256 Franciscan 1 Hope 56 Frank. & Marsh.
21 Clarkson 251 Hunter 55 Tufts 89 Springfield 39 Roger Williams 143 W. Conn. St. 62 Stevens Inst 237 Framingham St.
So here are the top 20 teams from each region, and the average rank of the teams favored to make the second round 7 Emory 8 Wash U 20 Millikin ave 23 (#20 vs #33 in round 1)
27 Williams ave 49
2 Calvin 6 Carthage 10 Whitewater 15 DePauw 17 Elmhurst 18 Chicago ave 8 (#15 vs 18 and #10 vs #17 in round 1)
9 Eastern 13 Chris Newport ave 29
5 Cal Lutheran ave 23 (very balanced after Cal Lutheran)
4 Wis-SP 10 St Toms 15 Coe 10 Neb Wesleyan ave 14 (#23 vs #24, #4 vs 22 and 10 vs 15 in round 1)
1 Hope 3 Wittenberg 12 Mount Union 14 Juniata ave 7.5 (after first round, this gets nuts)
21 Clarkson ave 44

That OP looks familiar :) Lots of stuff coming from a certain D III blog over the next several days, including updated AQ's, a projected field and the weekly top 10 post tomorrow. The annual regional guides will be published on Monday or Tuesday. The blog post you reference doesn't agree, but I'm pleased to see my alma mater make the tournament.

Either way, nice job, smartypants!

Wisconsin SP hasn't lost since Sept 24th...quite a streak but CMS seems pretty battle tested. I'll say 3-1 WSP.
Williams v Emory...I have to take my New England team in Williams in 5. Looks like Emory only loses once a month so good luck to Coach Kelsey and the Ephs on making this the Nov date.
Hope v Clarkson...Hope has certainly been here and done it before and keeps grinding out w's. I like Clarkson's relative youth but hard to argue with a program that has a solo performance of Eye of the Tiger floating around the internet...lol. They just keep taking punches and getting up.
Calvin and CNU in the nightcap seems balanced. I guess Calvin 3-1 with 2 games going beyond 25.

I know you're all wondering so I'll deliver the breaking news. Wisconsin Steven's Point defeated Claremont M-S 3-2!
Williams v Emory will now begin at 3:30 instead of 3...In case you're looking at that dead link wondering...

Stevens Point edged CMS 16-14 in the 5th. Williams was game, but lost to Emory in 4 Hope and Clarkson was competitive for streches but Hope was clearly better. Christopher Newport lost in 4 to Calvin
With Hope and Calvin in a Semi together, the final is moved to Monday because neither of those schools will play on the Lord's Day.
