He had that one game where he hit something like seven 3's in one half. BTW, have you heard about his son, Bol Bol? He's only 6'10" (right now), 14 years old, and can actually handle the ball. I was at a lot of those games in Oakland. Percentage-wise, Manute was a terrible three point shooter. But it was entertaining as hell when he actually made one. I just read something about his son - a high school freshman in Kansas who apparently is a five star college prospect. Yeah, his 3pt shooting percentage was a little over 20%, which is bad. For the era, I wouldn't quite go to terrible. I hadn't heard about his son. It'll be fun to follow his progress. With all the early recruiting, I'm guessing that he'll have to start thinking about a verbal commit in a year or so.

height doesn't win you national championships, so no they wouldn't.
I'd take people like Amy Boswell and Whitney Young from BYU over a Merrette Lutz at MB. Both are shorter, but much better blockers, and at least as far as Young, insane hops.
In terms of setters, I'd definitely take a shorter Carlini over Gabby Simpson. Hell, I'd take Snooky(sp?) from Arizona over Simpson and she's like 5'4" but she has a higher jump reach. And especially at libero, there are so many better out there, and lets face it, they anchor you defense, thus if you don't have a good one, you're gonna struggle.
