Just looking at the stats great match tonight by Kalei Greeley! She has been a real consistent player for the Wahine this season as a freshman. Nikki Taylor also looks like she had a great match complimenting Greeley. Manu Olevao's inconsistencies continue on the outside. Did Ginger Long not make the trip? Because how come nobody else was given a shot at Olevao's position. Looks like the Wahine block was also not effective tonight as the Wahine was held to only 7 blocks after having two huge blocking matches against the Beach and Northridge. Hopefully the Wahine will have an easier time with Poly tomorrow. Agree with you regarding Greeley. That's why I hope she is selected as the BW Freshman of the Year. I'm going to give the benfit of the doubt and say that Tai was still sick and not playing 100% because of it. I would rather not see Ginger Long come in at all. She had so many chances this year to prove herself and she has not produced. I would rather see Nikki Taylor move to Tai's spot and put Huff in Nikki Taylors spot. Do you think that would work? Sorry but I just do not agree with you on Manu-Olevao, this is a common for her to struggle in "big" matches, not only when she is sick...her inconsistencies I believe have really hurt the Wahine...in regards to Ginger Long I do not think she could have done any worse and I do not think she was given as much chances as you say, she should've have at least been given a chance a lot more this season when Tai has struggled...Tai has just been left in way too much this season when she's been struggling But overall I do agree with you in terms of moving Nikki to the left and bringing in Huff on the right. Haven't really seen much of Huff this season, but in the times that I did see her she has shown a lot of promise and potential. I would actually prefer Nikki to be on the left because she looks so awkward swinging on the right and the way she lands, and with the trap and off sets from Higgins, it's just a disaster waiting to happen with Nikki playing on the right, and I've stated this before that it is scary watching Nikki hit on the right when the sets are tight because she tight rope walks that center line and it's only a matter of time when she is going to land on one of the blockers on the other side of the net...

One will never know if Huff would have produced more. My question now becomes, in recent articles, Shoji mentioned that Huff was moved to OPP due to the injuries of Taylor. Does that mean with the addition of Granato/Castello, and with all OH's returning next year, will Shoji keep Huff as an OPP or move her back to MB? I've not seen her play MB at all this year. 2015 OH's: Passi, Long, Olevau, Greeley, Taylor, Castello, Granato 2015 MB's: Magill, Mitchem, Maglio, and possibly Huff? Are you sure Mithchem is going to be a middle next year? I thought I read that Irvine was using her on the outside and that she is playing all the way around.... In the articles this past week, they only refer Mitchem as a middle. They do mention she's a 6-rotation player, but Ljunquist was a 6-rotation middle as well. Maybe, you got confused with Castello, who is mentioned as playing middle, but played Right side as well. Plus, Mitchem is hitting over .550, I don't think I've heard any OH hitting that high at any level for a season.

I agree with moving Taylor to the left. I would simply move Olevau on the Right. She is much quicker and from what i've seen of her, she does not look awkward hitting from that position as Taylor does. Another thing, Hawaii's OH's these past years have not been good blockers at stopping the slide. I think one of the last OH's who could block the slide was Danielson. Taylor posses a big block for opposing left side hitters, but I think with Olevau's athleticism, she could do the same.

I figured halfway in the season, a team really shows how "high" of a ceiling there is. Hawaii has gotten considerably better, but for those still grumbling on how Hawaii is average this year - that is quite obvious. It's the same ol' Higgins sucks and Manu Olevao sucks and blah blah.
The reality, is this team is young and inexperienced and will be MUCH better next year. They are easily an NCAA team if they sweep their final three matches, so let's enjoy the final month.
*BTW, I understand Olevao struggles but there were games this year Hawaii won because of her. Aside from the middles, Taylor, Greeley and Olevao have all been hot and cold. Just seems like Olevao gets the brunt of backlash, even tho she's still one of the most improved from last season. In fact, I'd say Greeley has been the most consistent of the three, Taylor - even tho she's ben injured - has had some underwhelming games as well.

Regarding Tai, I was trying to be diplomatic regarding her struggles. Regarding Ginger Long, did you not watch the first 7-8 matches this year? She started in place of Nikki Taylor for the first 7 matches and I believe that she was hitting negative for the season at that point. According to the season stats Ginger started in 8 matches and has played in 17 matches this year. Her cumulative stats has her hitting a whopping .038 for the season. And you want to give her more chances? I don't think so brother.

I looked at IVC's website and it says that Mitchem is hitting .510 for the season. One curious thing though is that she is second in attempts at 414, second only to Moran with 455 attempts. That's a lot of attempts for a MB. Regarding MB's that played all the way around I remember Veronica Lima used to play all the way around also. I really liked her game. Her passing technique wasn't pretty but she got the job done!
