Beals walking off the court to the locker room...with a little assistance. But at least she's walking.
Broadcast crew of course, makes no reference to it.
Let's hope it's not serious and she's back Friday. But Finau didn't miss a beat!

Well, here's hoping Beals' injury isn't serious. That's now two starters out.

Finau is a good player. She got some playing time early in the season and it seemed like she had a nicer touch than Tanner to the LS, but was not nearly as good at backsetting. Tanner has made a lot of improvement over the course of the season since then, however.
It's not like the Huskies will lose in the first round or something, but all the top teams are so close that it's going to take 100% play to win the championship. Without their best setter, I don't know if the Huskies can do it. I hope I'm wrong.
I also hope I'm wrong about Beals, but I doubt we see her on the floor again this year. You can walk on a ligament tear -- the fact she walked off the court doesn't mean she's not finished for the year.

We may not hear much....this is the kind of thing that is unlikely to get any media coverage. Here's hoping Volleyblog Seattle gets some answers. Tanners play has improved dramatically, IMO. Wondering if JMac would consider dumping the 6-2 or if he has enough confidence in Finau. She certainly played well in that short stretch at the end. That will be one depressing end to her career at UW if Beals is not able to play again.

Really do not want to see them work through a personnel switch in the early rounds, and hope Katie`s knee is OK. That said, I am really glad that they have a setter of Finau`s quality to step in. Frankly, from the few times she has been on the court, she may have the best hands and play the best defense of the three. Not sure what is the weakness that keeps her off the court, relative to the other two.

Plus, you have to admire the fact that she came into that match, under those circumstances, and played flawlessly. That was a recipe for 'choke soup' and she served up perfection.

Walking but not putting any weight on that leg. I hope she's okay, but it didn't look good. She seems like a great kid.
Finau was a nice surprise in the few matches where I saw her this season. She was quick (on her feet and in the sets), accurate, and at times made some defensive plays I wouldn't expect from Tanner or maybe Beals. But she is very, very green. I don't want to jump the gun with Beals's knee, but I'd guess we'll be seeing a lot of Finau the rest of the way. Tanner in the front row would be such a huge change from what UW does both in blocking and hitting.

Huskies are not going to switch away from the 6-2. No way you change your whole scheme just as you go into the tournament. You live or die with what brought you here, even if you are playing Schwan and Finau instead of Jones and Beals.
Damn this sucks. I feel so bad for Katie -- the (nearly meaningless) last set of the last match of the regular season, on a fluke play caused by the ball hitting a low roof.

Time for Tanner to step it up?

Frankly, from the few times [Finau] has been on the court, she may have the best hands and play the best defense of the three. Not sure what is the weakness that keeps her off the court, relative to the other two. Like I said, from what I can tell it is her trouble setting the RS. Also, I think we are about to notice just how quietly, consistently good Beals has been at defense and serving. Finau isn't bad, but I think Beals is much better than "isn't bad".

I've been in Boehler several times...or however the hell you spell the dump. That low ceiling is like a high school gym...and really caused that Beals injury. You ever been to the old gym at Lakeside? I've seen living rooms with taller ceilings.

Uh oh... Beals goes down, holding her knee. Needs help getting to the bench... Seriously...this is terrible. I hope she just twisted it and will be back.
