sIsam, keep those posts about Noriega coming. She has always been one of my favorite players.

Will do - It will be easier and my posts will be more detailed once they start playing their home matches at their new hall. Stats are not posted after matches so all I can post here is my own observations from matches I'm able to get to.

sIsam: How many foreign players are allowed for each club in Italy A1, Italy A2, and Turkey. Also, is there a big jump in talent from Italy A1 to A2? Thanks.

Italy has no limit as far as the number goes - they might have a 2 player per country rule but I am not sure about that.
In Turkey, teams cannot have more than 3 int'l players on their 12-player roster. However in order to give a chance to those teams that play in European competition, teams are allowed to have 6 foreign players under contract - they can only have 3 in a league match roster. There're also some age and NT participation requirements - I can go in detail if you;re interested.
Yes there's a big jump of talent from A1 to A2 but then there's also a big jump of talent from the top of A1 to the bottom of it. There are some good players in A2 this year though - more so than previous years it looks like.

Sisam is correct about the 2 per country rule, There is no limit to foreigners but at least 4 players on the roster have to be Italian. In Serie A1 at least 2 players in your group of 7 (the six on the court + libero) must be Italian. In Serie A2 at least 5 of your 7 must be Italian (if no libero then 4 of 6). These rules do not apply to European Cup competition. A2 is even deeper this year than it has been lately. Probably because Serie A1 is as well!

Murina thanks for all the detail. I was not aware that there was a minimum no of italians rule.
There was some talk about maybe limiting the no of foreigners though. Serie A execs are not happy with the idea of Italian NT players sitting on bench on their teams. Probably too late for this year but would not be surprised to see these numbers changing in the future...
