3rd game was 25-14 4th game was 25-15 Clearly, Hawaii was looking right past 2-24 Riverside to Davis tomorrow. I expect them to come out livelier tomorrow. guess no one follows the wahine anymore. xplay posted the winner on this thread 7 hours ago.

Here's to hoping we can get a transfer setter, Higgins set locations..... There are no words. I had such high hopes for her especially with elite training... WTF is going on?

Penn state and stanford never a rebuilding year! They are a top10 team year in and out, therefore it's not every team. Uh just can't recruit top caliber players like other school let's just keep it real. Uh will not be a final four team for another decade. Hawaii is always lacking a key player every year. In 2009 they didn't have a strong outside with kanani, in 2010 they had Michelle waber on the outside, in 2011 they didn't have a consistent libero ( madea). In 2012 longo came in but they lack depth in the middle cuz hartong moved to the outside. Voster n kalei as ur middle. 2013 u lost jane croson, so u they were inconsistent on the left side.( with tai, and that transfer from Arizona state) 2014 ( tai is ur L1 and Higgins is one of uh most inconsistent setter I seen in years. This is why uh is not a top 25 team this year. The big west is not a strong conference there is no reason why they struggle in past two years.

Higgins is the scapegoat this season... I get it. I truly disagree with the statement that "Hawai'i is not a good a ball club". Inconsistent, yes. Bad, no way. Floor defense lacked for a set and a half, UCR was catching every cover off the UH block. I say Turkey Hangover. Yes, definitely agreed Hawai`i is not a bad team...but really inconsistent. Hawai`i fans just expect perfection year in and year out and when the team struggles it automatically equates to Hawai`i being a bad team. This team lacks experience, leadership and volleyball IQ thats where the inconsistencies come from. Remember there are over 300 teams in Division I and yet the Wahine are still on the cusp of one of the top 25 teams in the country so I would not translate that into being a bad team. There is just no experience and volleyball IQ on this team compared to years past. Key example tonight Tai Manu-Olevao getting solo-blocked by a 5' 6 outside hitter. There is no reason Tai should have hit that ball into that block, she did not look to see where her blocker was and she just swung away...when the angle was clearly open. Hawai`i fans just needs to stop expecting perfection year in and year out as there will be years that the Wahine will struggle due to the lack of experience as it is not easy to maintain a top program year in year out every program has at least one year where they struggle and use it to rebuild. I'm sure there are many programs out there that would love to experience the success that the Wahine have experienced this season despite this season being one of the Wahine's worse seasons. agreed. i would say that most fans expected growing pains and inconsistency this year. it's still tough to see it play out though, isn't it? that said, i think this year's group of recruits and next year's (plus all players having another year of experience) should get hawaii back to a more competitive level. i'm excited to see the development. but this season isn't over yet. here's hoping for a decent draw no matter where hawaii is sent on the road this year. maybe hawaii can put it together and knock off a lower seeded team to get to a regional.

i finally watched the match. slow start by hawaii, but give ucr credit, they were playing with a lot of emotion and like they had nothing to lose (which they didn't). holmes and cox were swinging away tooling hawaii's block, and their middles, at times, were quite effective. and they were playing tremendous floor defense. ucr just couldn't sustain it.
it was nice to see taylor hitting with authority last night. her line shot in particular was lethal.
adolpho had some great shots, but the ucr diggers always seemed to be just perfectly placed. too bad higgins didn't keep going to her.
magill ... hawaii just needs to set her as much as they can.
higgins sets to the left pin in transition were tight to the net much of the night. she did have a good serving night.
olevao hit .400+ with 11 kills. nicely done. they used her just enough, rather than setting her on nearly every out-of-sytem set. she's clearly better in system. just not consistent enough to take the bulk of the bailout sets. if hawaii is throwing those up to her, they're in trouble. i'd still like to see hawaii shift her in the lineup to opposite, and have taylor play left-side. that way, kahakai can be used more consistently in the back row for her, to ease some of the passing burden off olevao. it's probably just too late in the season to pull this trigger.

Despite how well UC Riverside played at times last night, the Wahine should not have allowed themselves to lose a game to UC Riverside. The fact that they did does not bode well for this team moving forward.

And some matches are a marathon rather than a sprint. Hawai'i in the end had to much weapons. The fans behind us were screaming at any Wahine that made a mistake in the 1st set. It was brutal... but as marathons go, its not how you start, but how you finish. Lessons to be learned for sure.
