Actually as I think about it, Paige should be the libero. She's made some outstanding defensive plays this season when she's been in the back row after she's served.
Poor Seliger-Swenson, Rosado, Wilhite and the rest of the team will get bored on the bench.

And, Hannah is surprisingly good at setting; I agree! I remember against Wisconsin one of our passers shanked a pass pretty badly, and it went right to Hannah, who unleashed a perfect backset all the way acroos the court to Daly; it was a thing of beauty! Of course she also had one against Ohio State in which a pair of rocks hit the ball which sent it spinning over the net, which may go down as one of the most obvious doubles of all time... so maybe lets keep SSS setting, she seems to be doing pretty well lol

Depending on how the incoming players next year work out, there could be situations where she would be called upon to be a six-rotation middle, kind of like Dixon was as a senior. Paige can hold her own back there.

I still think Hannah's the better back row player of the twins. Neither one is going to play back there, however, unless they can be used for offense out of the back row -- and that ain't happening. Now anyhow.
Things I trust Hugh on, however:
1) That they gain an advantage having Wilhite serve rather than Goehner 2) That Rosado serving for Hannah is better than her serving for Paige
I just wish Hannah could get a chance with her jump serve. I think it'd be a nice change of pace, if she can get it in consistently. I totally understand the reasoning behind not going with a high risk serve.

Maddie Beal is also an option, although we're more likely to see her on the right. Good point. They could play an all middle lineup. Here's how I'd do it: Setter: Hannah Tapp. Hannah's got great hands, although she did mess up that one against Ohio State. Opposite: Paige Tapp. She's better on the slide than in front of the setter. M1: Regan Pittman. M2: Molly Lohman. L1: Kayla Buford. L2: Taylor Morgan. Libero: Maddie Beal. Passing and defense may be an issue, but the blocking should be outstanding. Maddie Beale as libero? Uh, never in This life. Alyssa Goehner would be my choice for Libero. I also like Hannah's setting abilities. She has a natural setting ability and was well trained.

Stopping the ball at the net is key and she was very pivotal in the Gopher's success this year. I feel like Rosado has digressed in her defense and s/r abilities and for the last two matches... I almost hoped AG would have entered the court as libero.

There was a positive post about Regan Pittman, and I pointed out that the Gophers will have a plethora of outstanding middles next year. So many, in fact, that they could put a team out with all middles on the floor -- thus I had Hannah setting and Paige playing libero. It was not meant as a serious suggestion, I just thought it was amusing. Probably I'm the only one.

I love the fact that tall players can cover more surface area... But as a former defensive back row player.... I prefer lots of roofing action at the net!!

If KALEI Mau was still there Minnesota would be unstoppable. Just saying She definitely would add stability on the outside along with Santana. Happy for her though, glad to see she's coming into her own at Arizona. People are saying Mau could be as high as second team AA. She was a great kid and happy to see her doing so well.

This conversation reminds me of the time the Gopher basketball team had 5, 7 footers on the team (called The Birches because they were tall and white), and Jim Dutcher was tempted to play them to get into the record book for fielding the tallest team in NCAA history.

Flip Saunders put Randy Breuer at point guard for the Timberwolves to defend Magic Johnson once.

Who would of thought that the players they had on this years team could do as well as they did? If I were the coach, I would have a hard time replacing any starter this year with some freshman player next year. The stars did align this year with PSU in a slump, and us playing NEB and WI at the right time, but it was really all the players playing well, collectively they are a lot better then their stats. WI just got better all year, and NEB currently looks like the best team in the B1G. Schau we say that the Gophs are no longer the Lohman in the B1G?
