Wahinefan44 I hope you are right. But you know I hope shoji don't make the same mistake like last season. Just because Manu is in her final year doesn't mean shoji should sympathize on that and let her play based on that she hasn't improved. IMO she should be on a different level and better be. If it's the unfortunate season again, then Hawaii will be losing more recruits. I believed that their was favoritism on last years squad and thats the result in some leaving. #sighs Who left? Are you referring to Ginger Long and Megan Huff? Long was never going to crack the starting lineup. Huff joined the women's bb team after the end of the vb season. As far as I know, she'll be back with the vb team. Anyone else? If Huff can play consistently well like how she did in today's Big West championship basketball game, we won't be seeing much of her on the volleyball court.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but if any of y'all are going to the spring game on Thursday, could y'all give a post game summary to us far away Texas fans?

the three tournaments UCLA, American, Iowa; Oregon State, Wichita State (forget the third, wasn’t a huge name); and Florida, San Diego State and Eastern Washington.
Pretty decent schedule. Not a lot of huge names, but some solid in rpi

Accorfing to cindy, Megan huff will be on basketball schollie, so a player will be taking her scholarship and they are working on the paperwork right now I thought that under NCAA rules, if a player plays two Division I sports, that player must receive her scholarship for the sport deemed "major, " which in this case is basketball. This means both Megan Huff and Kalei Adolpho were under basketball scholarships. I said this several times before. After seeing Huff play in just her 1st basketball match in December, I saw her as a potential All-American (honorable mention, however) by the time she is a junior or senior. She is an exceptional basketball talent; her coach and teammates agree with me with her vast potential. In my opinion, she should stick strictly to basketball.

Not a lot of huge names, but some solid in rpi That Florida match will be HUGE. Might be the UH's only chance for a Top 25 RPI win (basic prerequisite for a seed and hosting privileges).

A first: Shoji's Wahine will train in Europe
By Cindy Luis, Honolulu Star-Advertiser
POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Mar 25, 2015
How to cap a 40th celebration? By doing something that has never been done to kick off the 41st.
Coach Dave Shoji is planning to take the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team to Europe. UH's women's team has been to Japan several times for offseason training, but this takes the Wahine even farther from home.
"We've been talking about it for years and finally it's the right time to do it," Shoji said. "There are still a few hurdles to clear but looks like we'll be going."
The itinerary has the team leaving May 15 and returning May 28 with stops in Italy, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. The trip includes practicing against European club teams, perhaps a scrimmage with a junior national team, and a stay in Maribor, Slovenia, where former all-conference middle Maja Gustin lives.
"We're hoping for five to seven games and practice on the other days," Shoji said.
All 13 of the players returning this fall are making the trip. Graduating senior middle Kalei Adolpho also is going to add depth for practices.
While the European trip is a first for the program, so too is the 2015 schedule. Hawaii will have an unprecedented six Sunday matches, three occurring in the first four weeks of the season.
Shoji said he was still waiting on contracts to be signed before releasing the complete schedule. He said two early-season tournaments will have split schedules, with football sandwiched between volleyball match days, and the two matches with Cal State Bakersfield will be on a Friday and Sunday.
There is also the issue of returning senior Tai Manu-Olevao, who sat out three Sunday matches last season for religious beliefs. Shoji said he has informed Manu-Olevao of the schedule but is waiting on a response.

I 100 percent agree. Matches like American, Wichita, UCLA, and maybe OSU (if they can sustain in the pac12) should be good for RPI since these are usual tournament teams. (Not OSU but they did great last year), but Florida will be a monster of a match. IF the wahine can pull it out, and win the big west outright, that will be a great chance for them to get a seed. I think it will be a florida win, BUT I think if the wahine can put on their serving and passing game, they have a chance to beat florida.

But this year, megan traded schollies. She was originally on vb, but switched to BB schollie. But now she will stay BB. No word yet if she will continue to play VB though.
