I assume that the player that you so covertly refer to is Ms. Logan......for one thing I know that you haven't talked to other players on the team about Logan's actions this summer.....hopefully some of you Stanford fans will have a chance to "inquire" of Ogonna what her thoughts are on Logan and her smoking and drinking.....my sources have indicated that their relationship(what is left of it) is somewhat strained after the manner in which Logan acted in Athens....there's plenty more, but I'll just stop here......I saw her play, a lot, and she runs pretty hot and cold folks.....I, for one, would like to see her leave the program.....we would be better without her disruptive behavior and attitude! When Logan sees you in Long Beach (the city where she spends time with family), I hope she slaps your face a thousand times!

Reading from Berg's article, it seems that the second setter battle in the summer was between Berg and Cepero. NOT true!

Beachman, I'm sorry to ask you this since you are the one arguing against Ms. Berg, but you are the only person who might be able to find out: if you have access to Mrs. Green-Vargas, I'm wondering what she thinks of Berg. Berg would seem to be just her type-tenatious as all hell, and a proven winner. Regardless of size or body shape... I may be wrong, but I'm guessing she might have quite a bit of respect for Berg. What is Mrs. Green-Vargas' critique of Berg as far as setting at that level? In answering your question, I really have no idea of what Debbie's opinion of Berg is, but I do know that she spent time watching the entire team play this past summer and she probably has an opinion, but far be it for me to speak on her behalf.....I suspect that being the class act that she is, that Debbie would keep her opinion to herself....I do know that at the time, she felt very strongly that Misty May WAS THE FUTURE of the USA Women's Indoor Volleyball Progarm at the SETTER position......but.........

Not to bring up old wounds but I was also quite peeved about her leaving the National Team. While I actually see flaws in her game right now, she is still one of the best setters I've ever seen to come out of the US. What can you do? At least she is doing well now and ironically winning gold for the US in volleyball, albeit in a different arena. Note I'm not implying she wanted to leave the national team.

Have YOU talked to other players on the team? I will not mention names, but the answer is YES! IF Tosh stays on, which I hear is unlikely, he needs to make better personnel decisions in the future. We need some players who are better athletes at their respective positions, and we don't need any primadonnas and Logan is THE Primadonna of this program!

Are you suggesting just taking the entire Long Beach State roster up to the National Team level? C'mon Beachman... you only offer criticism up, but rarely any solutions. Personally, I think Toshi rocks.

I like Toshi, and if you more interested in having a mature logical discussion than you are in trying to be a penis brain, you would stick to the topic. I simply gave my opinion of some of Toshi's decisions this year. I like him, certainly done one helluva superior job to the moron who was there immediately prior to him. As far as your comments about the entire LBS line-up, you just need to grow up and start acting like someone who is more than 15 years old!

I know that you would rather not have the USA team revolve around one player but Tom was on the team before Toshi came. Toss what fans thought was the most ready new player on the team and second best in overall potential to Kerri Walsh. Okay how about when he established more credentials in the tournament. No, because Logan was a part of that success. Also, yes Toshi could have tossed out a lot of the older players on the team but one was Tara Cross Battle who now is the assistant coach(I don't think it would be easy to taker her out) and Danielle Scott who had a great Sydney Olympics but wasn't impressive in Athens. Who could he realistically throw out? Sykora, Noriega. Those are possibility but it doesn't streamline them that much.

Hey, I'm critical of some of your points but I'm not attacking you as a person Beachman. And I didn't like Haley's handling of the team in Sydney either but I had to grin and bear it. Some people talk talent but with a huge collegiate system, better care needs to be taken in developing the right players or putting the right players on the team at the right team. Sometimes I think the selection process is too political. I like Toshi, and if you more interested in having a mature logical discussion than you are in trying to be a thingy brain, you would stick to the topic. After watching the women's olympic volleyball vs. the men's volleyball I am much more optimistic about our chances of winning medals in China on the women's side than I am on the men's side. Our men are so far away from being in the top 2 or 3 it isn't funny but our women can play with anyone and like so many of us like to point out on this website, there is a helluva lot of collegiate talent out there waiting to step up and kick butt.......having said that though it still takes a lot of time to gain the international experience that is necessary and I don't see a reasonable short-cut to that end!

I will not mention names, but the answer is YES! IF Tosh stays on, which I hear is unlikely, he needs to make better personnel decisions in the future. Im curious to know which 12 players you think should be on the National Team. Please add assistant and associate coaches as well if you have people in mind for those positions. .....hopefully some of you Stanford fans will have a chance to "inquire" of Ogonna what her thoughts are on Logan and her smoking and drinking.....my sources have indicated that their relationship(what is left of it) is somewhat strained after the manner in which Logan acted in Athens....there's plenty more, but I'll just stop here...... ?? I saw their matches this summer and they were always talking. Being the 2 youngest players on the team, Nnamani seems to be the more playful of the two. She seems to be able to make Tom smile quite often too. Between games, when teams switch sides, Nnamani would have her arm around other players.. Sykora, Tom, Berg, Metcalf... She usually walks with Tom. Nnamani seems to be well liked by the veterans but she and Logan seem close. (Although I saw Tom with Cross-Battle, Scott and Phipps a lot too.) And in one of her entries in the Pantagraph, Oganna talked highly of 2 of her teammates, particularly Scott and Tom, describing them both 'exceptional' on and off the court. I don't know who your 'sources' are but last time I checked, Logan was even learning knitting from Oganna this summer . Having watched them together, it just didn't strike me that their relationship would be like how you described in your post. Anyways, I am still interested to hear who are the players you think should be on the National Team.

Don't pay any attention to Beachdork. He's trying to stir the pot, but alot of us suspect that he's doing more smoking than stirring.
