As I mentioned this weekend, that was the rumor posted on another message board. I'm really surprised that the announcement came this soon. Perhaps the next official announcement will be regarding Tiffany Baker's medical redshirt (especially with the volleyball scrimmage coming this Friday). And, that would mean one open scholarship for 2015 if the right player decides to come . . . under offseason news it announces Tiffany Baker's medical redshirt

So, broadcasting instead of coaching now.

i think Texas should snag Maddie Haggerty. She's a stud! Would be a great asset for UT.

I do wish that regionals were in Austin in '16 or '17 instead of next season, because I'm a bit worried next season is going to be a down season for Texas until the new talent arrives in the following years. Hope I'm wrong.
And I hope that Elliott is looking for another setter in case Dalton is not ready. I'm glad the program is optimistic about her return, but they said the same thing about Baker.

There were only two members of our 2014 signing class. Cat McCoy and Mirta Baselovic signed LOIs in November 2013, and Texas announced their official signings; as far as I know, you only sign an LOI when you are receiving an athletic scholarship. Otherwise, there would have been no reason to sign and no official announcement so far in advance of her stepping foot on campus. www.texassports.com/news/2013/11/13/WVB_1113131347.aspx?path=wvball

under offseason news it announces Tiffany Baker's medical redshirt So between Baker and Hattis, does this mean we have two scholarships open now? If Baker was on scholarship, a medical redshirt would still count as a scholarship player. Unless she's on medical hardship which would mean her volleyball career is done.

So why red shirt if she's done next year anyways?

It's extremely rare. Jason White did it with Oklahoma for football, but it was after a petition to the NCAA. You get five years to compete in four.

It looks to me like the athletic department release was inartfully drafted. While the heading used the term "medical redshirt", I'm guessing Baker is actually taking a "medical hardship". That's the only way I can make sense of the following statement from the release: "Junior Tiffany Baker will not play in her senior season for Texas due to ongoing injuries."
