Utah pulls the upset. Lyman is blocked Wow, the ranked teams need to start using wards and charms because they are getting rugged

The blocking is great. I'd like to see how many there are in this game. This is the biggest problem that UCLA faces. Their outsides just weren't putting the ball done. Utah looked ugly for long periods but they picked the right moments to ambush them. It's timing at it's most excruciating. Good defense and fight all the way for both teams.

Go Bruins! Utah is unworthy! Apparently the Utes actually are worthy.

I wouldn't say this is too much of an upset. Utah is a pretty good team, they are at home and we all know UCLA tends to be overrated at times and they have certainly underachieved over the years. Good win for the Utes.

It's an upset in the fact that while other teams were struggling with chemistry or ball control, UCLA shouldn't have those problems. The Utes just showed that the Bruins are vulnerable that they need to work on it because Utah is exactly the kind of team that can make noise in the NCAAs. Yes this is a road loss and Utah is really tough at home. But it's still shocking.

Good win for the Utes. UCLA has had a tendency over the last ~10 years to be over ranked more often than they've been under ranked. +7; 2003 Pre-season 13, final poll 5. -3; 2002 Pre-season 11, final poll 14. -2; 2001 Pre-season 7, final poll 9. -6; 2000 Pre-season 1, final poll 7. +3; 1999 Pre-season 10, final poll 7. -2; 1998 Pre-season 18, final poll 16. -5+; 1997 Pre-season 21, final poll NR. -19+; 1996 Pre-season 6, final poll NR. -2; 1995 Pre-season 5, final poll 7. -1; 1994 Pre-season 2, final poll 3. +3; 1993 Pre-season 4, final poll 1. 0; 1992 Pre-season 1, final poll 1. -5; 1991 Pre-season 1, final poll 6. 0; 1990 Pre-season 1, final poll 1.

Utah wins hitting %, 184 to 162, with 7 more kills, and 3 more errors
Utah wins digs, 100 to 91
Utah wins blocks, 15 to 10
Attendance was only 706 - bummer that more didn't make it out for a great match.

GEE, DIDN'T LONG BEACH STATE BEAT UTAH IN 4!!?? Yes, to their credit, they did (at the Pyramid). They also beat Northeastern and Northwestern, Liberty and Yale. They are undefeated after 7 matches and, as one of the few remaining undefeated Div. I teams, they will surely move into the top 20. Of course, it will not be until next week that they play their first top 25 team (San Diego probably will be around number 20).

Did anyone see this match, I'd be interesting to see if the freshman development and the play of Summerfeldt was the reason for the improved play. GEE, DIDN'T LONG BEACH STATE BEAT UTAH IN 4!!??
