It's official now: Maddie Haggerty, Kira Larson and Alexa Ethridge to transfer. Best wishes to these three! ..to? I knew they were going to wait until after spring break to announce their departures. I've only heard which schools are on Kira's list, but I'm not sure about the others.

Most likely playing time. I don't think larson was going to see the floor much until her senior yesr and even then, isn't nebraksa getting stivrens (sp), in 16? Maddie wasn't going to see much time either. But I'm shocked because her sister will be attending nebraska and meghan is a senior next year. Ethridge could start as a libero at some other school, so I figuired she would want that. But who knows reslly. Best of luck to all of them!

They all wanted to play in bigger roles than they were ever going to at Nebraska.

Nebraska will be loaded in the middle in the years to come. Briana, Chesney, Lauren and perhaps another big name recruit would likely be ahead of Kira for a starting position. Maddie faces a similar dilemma of playing behind the Rolfzens for the next two years, and then Molly enrolls in 2016. Given that Maddie will be up against Annika, Alisha, Kelsey, Olivia and Tiani for an OH position, she probably didn't anticipate much playing time. I was actually surprised to hear about Alexa, though. IMO she was the team's best server last year, and she really stepped up her back-row game from her frosh season. Similar to the other two players, however, Alexa likely wouldn't have too many opportunities to sub in as a DS or start as a libero when the team will have players like Kenzie, Justine, Annika, and Sydney.

Yes, I would be concerned until Haggerty signs NLI in Nov. this year.

It is very interesting considering the other Haggerty sister is coming in 2016. Interesting to see if that commitment holds. You know Molly has heard it all.....the good, the bad, and the ugly. ...Or that tweet could imply nothing. Like how there's another tweet they are running stairs at the football stadium..... All 3 probably realized they may not get as much playing time. It happens. I enjoyed having them as Huskers.

She wants to find a program where she can have a bigger role as do the other two players. There is a point where you see the writing on the wall in terms of what your playing opportunities are, at that point you ride it out and make the best of it, or look for another opportunity. All three were in good standing, well liked, and are being supported in their wish to find a program that gives them great opportunities to play.

Yes, Best of Luck to all three. * I still remember Kira having 11 blocks in the match against the Chinese Pro Team; in which the Huskers Won in 5. I wonder if Kira has kept up her track conditioning. I always thought she might transfer to the Husker track team. She was an exceptional high jumper in HS. * Alexa will definitely be a starting libero for someone! * Maddie - I'm sorry we didn't get to see you play here! And again; 'Best of Luck' Ladies!!
