Thanks for this. It answers my most important concern about the FF ie did PSU players switch jersey numbers for the open practice. THEY DID. This little practice has coincided with a very nice decade of tournament VB for PSU.

Russ, Russ, Russ ... if only that really HAD been "the last match of the PAC-12 schedule" then the Huskies wouldn't have had to go to WSU, where Katy Beals blew out her ACL. But otherwise, nice press conference. Vintage well you know, the other team is so much better than us, we're the underdogs, we'll have to play as hard as we can just to have a chance coach-speak.

At coaches award banquet. Lunch is not so great. Dessert was Ok. You can't go wrong with cheesecake.
Going through the coaches award now. Men's award. Kathy Deboer is doing the interviews. Missing Kevin Barnett on the mike.

Missing Kevin Barnett on the mike. Keep it up PLEASE. Your reports from the convention are one of the treats of the FF. Thanks for doing this for us lowly outsiders expectantly trying to look in with our runny noses pressed up against the window.

It's hard to hate PSU when their coach is one of the most humble and calm foaches out there. He knows penn state is good, but he's always saying the other team is great too.
A lot of people may hate psu, but no one should hate Russ rose

A lot of people may hate psu, but no one should hate Russ rose When they were playing UCLA, Lowe made a great hit that nailed the left side corner right in front of Russ. The line judge across the court called it out, and Russ actually spontaneously jumped up in the air and yelled at the line judge, who looked completely unsettled and disoriented. It was the only time I saw him animated in the match. Left an impression. The up judge reversed the call in the end.

A lot of people may hate psu Same as a lot of people may hate Hawaii, Washington, Nebraska etc.... And that matters because? I simply stated a lot of people hate Psu, especially on this site. It's not a lie. I complement your coach and that's all you can point out. Classy

Other coaches can't have that style, and still get the players that he does.... just my $.02.

Someone from VT should give a talk about VT (or the perils of online activity). I nominate Wolfgang! There are a myriad of activities oging on. PAVO, the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials have their annual meeting, they even let them bring their guide dogs into the building. I kid. Don't worry. I've already spoken to your regional ref chair and to speed up your team's matches this spring, you'll just start every set with a yellow card to save time. For any third sets you get into, you'll start with a red card.

Attended a really excellent session on developing Mental Toughness in today's athlete by Greg Dale of Duke. Really excellent info and presentation. Gave me lots to think about. He did a great job articulating the problems and categorizing the different manifestations of the entitlement syndrome in kids. Very well attended.
Saw a couple of so-so presentations on the courts. The vendors were doing their damnedest to fill my suitcase up with swag. Not that I am turning them down or anything.
For all of my misgivings about certain things the AVCA do, they know how to put on a party. The events are well organized and does a good job keeping structure. Their app dedicated to the convention is excellent. All the session feedback is being done through the app. Attendees can reach out to everyone who attended through the app. Really slick.
Rampant speculation and guessing going on about TCU and Baylor. Right now TCU is the hottest rumor generator in town. Mississippi State and Notre Dame are engendering less speculations. Everyone seems to know someone who's second cousins with the neighbor of TCU's AD's dog groomer.
