NO BIRKS ON FIRST TEAM?!?!! That makes me sad. I hope she has a stellar senior season individually and team wise. Fantastic player! She's on 2nd team. And I grade her the same as Burgess, if I had the choice.

Haleigh Washington was robbed. She, instead of Ali Franti, should have been FOY. Washington did not play enough sets to be considered by NCAA True, except you mean "by AVCA" not "by NCAA".

Does anyone know when the AVCA started awarding honorable mention All-America honors to the all-region picks (who weren't named to one of the three teams)?

Super excited that Foss made it! I was thinking she might get 2nd team, but it's a great year for setters and I am just happy for her.

Happy that Holston, Alhassan and Dagostino got the recognition they deserved. This is the first time I can remember 3 Gators being named to an All-America squad in the same year who aren't graduating. With Antwi and Recek, that will be 5 players who have earned AA (HM) recognition in their career that return. Hopefully Dubiel and O'Rourke can set them up to succeed next year and the front row continues to grow.
Congrats to Frantti as well. I'm sure it came down to her and Alhassan for FOY, but she is definitely deserving.
Not to get on an SEC love fest or anything, but I'm happy Holman and Rivers got the recognition they deserved too. Holman is an outstanding middle who is going to do some great things the next two years at LSU. And Alabama with their first AA ever and Rivers deserved every piece of that honor. Her story and the obstacles she has overcome is pretty amazing.

Alhassen should have been NFOY even if she was a Middle and played 4 rotations. If the voters wanted to go for a 6 rotation then the choice should have been MK Marshall. She was the key for her team and Oregon State goes from last in PAC last year to a sweet 16 team this year. Frantti is an outstanding player but she is not the cog in the PSU engine, but a quality piece, as evident by Simone Lee entering in second set of regional final and performing the same as Frantti.

Frantti led her team in kills and still hit above 300. She was sick against Wisconsin but Simone Lee did not do as well. She hit below 300, although after that first set, it certainly looked like she was going to do as well or better.

Abby Cole should have been recognized on 3rd team.
Frantti played all season; Lee did not. Frantti was the workhorse getting a TON of balls and hitting over 300 in the toughest conference (see Pac 12 tourney results). Frantti would hit 400 in any conference other than Pac. She's a beast, in a good way, and I say that despite my hate for PSU.

Also a great blocker for her size.

NOLAN!
Haters gonna hate, but they are just big-team bias people who think because a player doesn't play for a top-10 team, they do not deserve to be on an All-America team.
As has probably been said billions of times over the years on here, it is not Iowa State's fault that they value the position of libero enough to recruit and train it heavily. It is one of the keys to ISU going from a program with no tradition to one that has made nine-straight NCAA Tournaments so you can't say it is dumb.
There was a lot of pressure on Nolan this year to fill in Hahn's role and she exceeded expectations. The Cyclones would have struggled to make the NCAA Tournament without her play, much less actually win a match in the tournament.
