Go BYU!!!! Beat Penn State. Why... unseeded / first time / underdog / West /
As long as their freshman setter--who has looked great this year--does not have the jitters like she did against Texas, BYU has great chance to win.

LOL. Look we can't help it if the first thing Texas insisted on when the Big 12 was formed was the elimination of Proposition 48 players that had been the lifeline for Nebraska football. Academic standards mattered to Texas and Texas A&M for that matter. And we can't help it if we owned you in football starting with the 1st Big 12 football championship in St Louis. You took your Big Red football and ran to the Big 10 and have regressed ever since. And by the way, an institution that would have Bo Pelini represent them all these years is the last one to whine about evil Texas. How low has Nebraska fallen - - you settled on the Oregon State football coach for your program! Really? Actually, it's not spelled "Really". I believe it is spelled (Mike) "Riley" . . . That was subtle sarcasm on my part. But thanks for spoiling it for my angry Nebraska fan!

The Texas fans are really starting to annoy me. Bottom line: Texas is the single most despicable institution in all of college athletics. They have NEVER behaved as a conference member but rather insist on being the conference dictator calling all the shots to their subservient serfs. Their greed and avarice ruined first the old southwest conference, go ask Arkansas why they divorced themselves from TexA$$ and the old SWC and if they are better off in the $EC, then TexA$$ went all dictatorial in the BEVO and the Bevo teat suckers conference which led Colorado, Nebraska, Texas A&M & Missouri to giving TexA$$ the ole FU to leave for faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better conference affiliations. Conferences in which everybody has equal say in the conferences policies. Ask all those institutions if they are better off having removed the TexA$$ yoke from around their collective necks. The Bevo Confernce got their just rewards in football this season cuz' of TexA$$'s dictatorial meddling. If it were up to me there would be a nationwide boycott for every school at every level in every sport against playing TexA$$ in any out of conference games/matches until TexA$$ actually behaves as a conference equal member vs being the conference dictator making all the conference decisions. NO WAY would I ever allow any child of mine to associate with that toxic putrid institution. They are the absolute paradigm for mioral corruption in college athletics. Absolutely! The truth hurts!!! I will cheer for anyone playing Texas. Their fans are as gracious as their University.

Your success is fairly new compared to the Big Red. Your football as of late hasn't been exactly dominant and your volleyball program, compared to the talent accumulated over the last decade has not been as dominant as expected has it? You were the big bullies in the conference ,( or at least tried to be) and it backfired on you. You are now ," Kings of the Hill," in a mediocre conference. We are happy for you but what a snoozer it must be. We are extremely happy where we are, and you guys can continue to believe you are as important as you think you are. The Pelini response? You are right. His program was hardly the Nebraska way and they made changed to remedy that. I like the balls of our athletic director. Win or lose , we prefer a coach that can win or lose with class.

Every thread seems to have been hijacked by Texas fans insulting and being insulted by pretty much fans of every other conference playing volleyball. Being a man who detests violence I went to another website run by the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. But there's an argument there on whether Mother Teresa or Mack Brown were overrated as leaders. Getting pretty violent too.

What I posted about proposition 48 is correct and Dr. Tom and the rest of the Nebraska athletic staff never forgave Texas for it. There was not going to be a Big 12 without an upgrade in academic requirements for sports. And how is our success fairly new? We won national championships in '63, '69, '70 & '05. And we've had 2 coaches now - Mack and Charlie who can win or lose with class. I'm confident Texas football will be just fine with Strong.
Regarding volleyball, 6 final 4's in 7 years, including a national championship, is pretty darned good. Competing for national championships is my expectation.
Hook'em and good luck with your new coach. I think he's going to turn out to be a transition coach - Really!

How low has Nebraska fallen - - you settled on the Oregon State football coach for your program! Really? Don't get me going on UT football. Remember when bama (that is almost like obama) rolled over them? That must have doubly hurt you. Bama Obama. Wow. Maybe that is why you hate him so much? How they been since that? Have not seen them on TV that much? Not sure why. Usually powerhouse teams always get the great national coverage. Academic standards? you are kidding yourself. What is the minority graduation rate on the UT football team? What is the white graduation rate? These are some interesting stats and they are published. Go look. Ohio St. Alabama A&M OSU Auburn there is not much difference. the only team that was respectable in "academic standards" was coached by leech (doubled the grad rate) and you all ran him out of the state. Really? You are going to resort to racial politics?
Please proceed with posting the graduation rates for all D1 football teams and sort by race.

Does anyone know why BYU's bench and fans were doing what appeared to be the gator chomp? Super curious.... Gator Nation is everywhere. lol I honestly don't know. They did it in Seattle too. Hopefully someone familiar with BYU tradition can fill us in. It may look like the gator chomp, but I'm sure that's not what they call it.

Not a gator chomp but a shark chomp. No logical, BYU specific reason this started other than they play jaws music, when BYU is at set point, and the shark chomp comes out:
Can't say I'm personally a fan of it, but they've been doing it for so long, it's just a tradition now...

LOL...fair enough....You are I probably will not agree but I was privy to that going on at the time. Lets just say that Texas was not interested it all with being fair to any of the other teams in the conference. They felt like they deserved to be Queen Bee and didn't really care if it was fair. I do believe that it cost them a competitive conference and has hurt their reputation as a team player, conference wise. Bottom line- Football National Championships- Nebraska- 5, Texas- 4 Volleyball National Championships- Nebraska 3- Texas- 2 Both programs have a storied history of excellence in athletics.

I am rooting for BYU not because I like underdogs, not because I want someone outside the main conferences to win but because I will root for anybody that is playing against PSU. If BYU were playing any other ranked team in the finals, I would cheer for the ranked team.
Not when that team is PSU though!
