Well considering the tone of the post I was responding to, I think I was very Walton like.
What I posted about proposition 48 is correct and Dr. Tom and the rest of the Nebraska athletic staff never forgave Texas for it. There was not going to be a Big 12 without an upgrade in academic requirements for sports. And how is our success fairly new? We won national championships in '63, '69, '70 & '05. And we've had 2 coaches now - Mack and Charlie who can win or lose with class. I'm confident Texas football will be just fine with Strong.
Regarding volleyball, 6 final 4's in 7 years, including a national championship, is pretty darned good. Competing for national championships is my expectation.
Hook'em and good luck with your new coach. I think he's going to turn out to be a transition coach - Really! LOL...fair enough....You are I probably will not agree but I was privy to that going on at the time. Lets just say that Texas was not interested it all with being fair to any of the other teams in the conference. They felt like they deserved to be Queen Bee and didn't really care if it was fair. I do believe that it cost them a competitive conference and has hurt their reputation as a team player, conference wise. Bottom line- Football National Championships- Nebraska- 5, Texas- 4 Volleyball National Championships- Nebraska 3- Texas- 2 Both programs have a storied history of excellence in athletics. Woo. That was a close one! I thought we were about to break up!
BTW, Charlie Strong picked up 2 Huge recruits today!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Bottom line: Texas is the single most despicable institution in all of college athletics. They have NEVER behaved as a conference member but rather insist on being the conference dictator calling all the shots to their subservient serfs. Their greed and avarice ruined first the old southwest conference, go ask Arkansas why they divorced themselves from TexA$$ and the old SWC and if they are better off in the $EC, then TexA$$ went all dictatorial in the BEVO and the Bevo teat suckers conference which led Colorado, Nebraska, Texas A&M & Missouri to giving TexA$$ the ole FU to leave for faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better conference affiliations. Conferences in which everybody has equal say in the conferences policies. Ask all those institutions if they are better off having removed the TexA$$ yoke from around their collective necks. The Bevo Confernce got their just rewards in football this season cuz' of TexA$$'s dictatorial meddling. If it were up to me there would be a nationwide boycott for every school at every level in every sport against playing TexA$$ in any out of conference games/matches until TexA$$ actually behaves as a conference equal member vs being the conference dictator making all the conference decisions. NO WAY would I ever allow any child of mine to associate with that toxic putrid institution. They are the absolute paradigm for mioral corruption in college athletics. LOL. Look we can't help it if the first thing Texas insisted on when the Big 12 was formed was the elimination of Proposition 48 players that had been the lifeline for Nebraska football. Academic standards mattered to Texas and Texas A&M for that matter. And we can't help it if we owned you in football starting with the 1st Big 12 football championship in St Louis. You took your Big Red football and ran to the Big 10 and have regressed ever since. And by the way, an institution that would have Bo Pelini represent them all these years is the last one to whine about evil Texas. How low has Nebraska fallen - - you settled on the Oregon State football coach for your program! Really? This isn't about success on the field it's about morally corrupt actions in conference administration. As for Prop 48, Nebraska, unlike despicable, corrupt, nefarious TexA$$, had a STERLING record of academic success with these academic at risk student athletes. Nebraska actually made it point of going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond the call of duty in helping prop 48 student athlete's get an education. Something all of the NCAA should be doing. Nebraska's example in this regard SHOULD be standard paradigm for the rest of the nation to uphold. Instead, the NCAA does away with their responsibility regarding academically at risk student athletes. You should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELF for supporting the demise of prop 48. It's a national disgrace. Typical TexA$$ trash.

I don't think Texas had anything to do with anything. As usual, you have inflated the Universities importance giving them credit where credit isn't due.

Ask anyone what led to the decline of Nebraska football, and they will tell you it was joining the Big 12, and getting the rules changed on them (to their dismay). Add to it Texas beating the Huskers on the field every time they met up except once, and things are crystal clear why Nebraska became mediocre, and hasn't come close to recovering.

I'm cheering for BYU because they are the underdog and they beat Nebraska and Texas! Sorry, but I really feel Texas is overrated most years. Elliot recruits some great athletes, but I don't feel he recruits volleyball players. Tall girls that can hit, yes! But they can't pass or play backrow defense and have no idea what to do in an out of system play. It seems like some of them don't have basic court awareness. For instance, there was a bad set to one of the Texas outsides that was outside the antenna and 10 feet of the net but she couldn't manage to turn around and pass it over the net, despite having plenty of time (hello, moonball set) and plenty of room cross court to get it over and in between the antennas. She didn't even get it over the net. No awareness of where she was on the court.

Texas had their brains beaten in last night by the 1st UNRANKED TEAM to ever make the finals. Over-rated players, coach and supporters. Texas is a middling club.

I'm rooting for BYU because they proved that they are for real beating some seeded teams and I think they deserve to win! If PSU wins I will be happy for them but I would like for BYU to get the job done! GO HUSKERS

I thought they played really well when Ogbogu was in the match, she was amazing at the net. The Texas middles were great. It's just that Haley Eckerman didn't have a good match. BYU's Hamson and Gray were basically unstoppable.

BYU has a amazing block...............the best in this tourney.

She reminds me so much of Meriweather from UCLA!
