Washington seems to be cruising over their opponents but they really aren't playing anybody (Boise State, Montana, Wichita State, Arkansas). They played Michigan State last weekend at WSU but they have not played any ranked teams in the pre-season. How will this be for them when they get to PAC-10 competition without being tested. I guess we will know next weekend when they go to UCLA/USC. If they survive that trip then they are well on their way to contending for the PAC-10 title this year.

I'm sure we all would have liked to see them play FAMU. But mother nature intervened. Their match up against a common opponent with Nebraska would have been a nice comparison and gauge on the Huskies.
And also maybe they could have used a real test before squaring off against UCLA and USC next weekend.

Yes! They are that good. It's going to be a good season.

i think they're really good based on how they did last season, but it's hard to tell at this point. i mean ucla should be better than they're showing right now based on last season...
they may be the team with the biggest cupcake schedule of the top teams--maybe to pad their w-l record before the pac-10 season?
don't know why they need it though...the way stanford, and ucla are playing they should have no prob taking 2nd in the pac-10 if not first now that usc is looking (a little) vulnerable...

While I am a fan of making fun of top teams with weak schedules, I think Washington might have a reason for not loading up on top opponents. I am lazy, so I won't look it up, but the Huskies weren't that high profile nationally before last year, were they? Thus, they might have set up their schedules before they knew how good they would be. Does anyone know how far in advance volleyball scheduling is done? Of course, maybe they just wanted to visit scenic DeKalb, Illinois. Look, corn field, arena, high rise dorm. Actually, it isn't that bad of a town, in my opinion, but the transition from fields to campus is a quick one. As to the other part of the question, I think Washington is good. Tomasevic is a load, Thompson was really impressive in the matches I saw her play as a freshman last year, and they have a good libero. They should be a force in the Pac 10.

I won't be surprised if Washington is in the running for the Pac 10 championship right down to the last few conference matches.
They were a fun team to watch last year and should continue to improve even more this year as the season progresses.
