No. 25 Women's Volleyball Wins Buckeye Classic With 3-0 Victory Over Montana State
Buckeye Stacey Gordon named MVP, Marisa Main and Maya Mapp named All-Tournament
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's volleyball team closed out the non-conference season with a 3-0 (30-19, 30-23, 30-24) over Montana State (8-3) to capture the Buckeye Classic. The Buckeye stand 10-0 on the season entering Big Ten Conference play next week. OSU's Stacey Gordon (Sr., Oshawa, Ontario) scored 27.5 points with Danielle Meyer (Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio) adding 13.5 and Maya Mapp (Sr., Washington, D.C.) 13 for the Buckeyes. Bobcat Megan Zanto had a team-high nine points for Montana State.
Ohio State hit .402 for the match to .253 for the Bobcats. The Buckeyes had a 66-36 advantage in kills and a five to one margin in ace serves. OSU had nine service errors to four for Montana State. Defensively Ohio State had a 41-30 margin in digs with Buckeye Ami Stevens (Fr., Centerburg, Ohio) recording a match-high 11. At the net, each squad had five team blocks with OSU's Meyer collecting a match-high three assists blocks. Buckeye setter Marisa Main (So., Louisville, Ky.) had 55 assists in the victory and added five kills and four digs.
OSU's Stacey Gordon was named the Buckeye Classic Most Valuable Player and teammates Main and Mapp were selected to the All-Tournament team. Montana States' Angela Wiebe, Kim Stonehouse and Kandice Kelly and Northeastern's Ashley Adamczyk completed the All-Tournament Team.
Ohio State begins Big Ten Conference action next weekend when the Buckeyes travel to Wisconsin Friday, Sept. 24 and Northwestern Saturday, Sept. 25.

With 11 kills and eight blocks from Ashley Reeves and 10 kills and seven blocks from Larissa Adomat, Northeastern (5-7) defeated Florida International (1-8), 3-1 (31-29, 28-30, 30-18, 30-19) for third place at the Buckeye Classic. Golden Panther Ruth Flemig had 10 kills and Laura Vogel had 10 for Florida International.
Northeastern hit .159 to .024 for FIU. The Huskies had a 53-47 advantage in kills and a 12-8 margin in ace serves. Defensively, FIU had a 62-59 advantage in digs with Northeastern's Ashley Adamczyk recording a match-high 22 digs. At the net, the Huskies had a 15-10 margin in team blocks.
