I will go ahead and start a thread. I am a Cougar (Alma Mater and age ). I played for BYU, my daughter played for BYU, son goes there, WE BLEED BLUE! I've had a good feeling about this team from the beginning. This will be a tough test. Going with BYU in 5. I have the utmost respect for the PSU program, but I today I hate V-neck sweaters, notebooks, and left-handed setters. I LOVE powder blue back packs, bad staches, and freshman setters. What is a Nittany, btw? This has gotta do wonders for recruiting for BYU. Sorry Beth, but Utah is probably not going to be any ones first choice!

Nittany is a "mountain." The lion is a "lion."
The truth? It was a large squirrel on a hill.

BYU has a chance. Gray and Hamson and Blocking will need to show up. BYU needs to pass better....

It seems people are voting more with their hearts than with their heads in this poll.

I respect the OP for her always logical posts despite that she's "enemy" for the day . And I certainly respect this year's BYU team, more so than UCLA with the incredible Karsta Lowe, and as much as Wisconsin and Stanford -- so PSU in 4 instead of 3 .

Since the best 2 teams & setters in the country were from Wisconsin & Penn State,,,Penn State will win tonight, unless Hancock is injured, as what happened in 2012 in Louisville.

Already making excuses? You're lucky BYU didn't have Hamson last year - they could have took out PSU in the Final Four last year. Instead Gray tried to do it all against USC & Hagglund and came up short. Now she has a 6'7 partner. Hamson is better than Boukather and Gray is better than both Stanford's outsides (offensively). BYU setter Alohi is physical at the net, standing 6'1. BYU's middles are there to block. If PSU can contain Gray and Hamson, BYU is dead meat. But if they can go off, it's anyones match. Watch to see how Washington does today, I think she was a bit shaky and nervous vs. Stanford. Nonetheless, a wonderful run for BYU. Dominating a solid Seton Hall team, beating seeded Arizona on their home court, then beating #6 Florida State before taking out Nebraska. Then they beat #2 Texas--wow.

Great teams win matches and great players make great plays. Hancock is a great player.

I'm looking forward to what should be an excellent and entertaining final. I hope it goes five sets and to extra points in that fifth set.
IMHO, all the pressure will be on PSU. I'm figuring they'll be dubbed the favorites by the oddsmakers so BYU can play without the pressure of being expected to win.

Actually Robins-Hardy is 6-2 but doesn't look it standing next to Hamson.

The BYU block is the key to the match...............if Penn St. goes over or through it they will be blown out. Remember BYU is like the all their missionaries and the BLUES Brothers...................they are on a "MISSION FROM GOD"

Red, only thing is that Penn State thrives on pressure. Why else would they have won the final so many times in last few years. The longer the match goes the more it will favor the team with the greatest depth. Since I have not had the chance to see BYU play, I look forward to the match.
