nothing I said is untrue. Hamson will be gone - that's a big hole to fill. Gray is a great player but she can't play back row 'cause her serve-receive is poor. Also, BYU has an extremely difficult time recruiting outside of Mormon talent pool. Doesn't mean there isn't good Mormon talent, it simply means you have a smaller talent pool to recruit. In addition, Utah is drawing away some good talent from BYU now that they compete in the Pac12. You want to compete against the best.... then Pac12 beats the WCC handsdown....and some girls are picking Utah over BYU. Also, ...not hating BYU. But highly improbable they will be make another run in the tourney like this year. @msrvs - my 4-5 doesn't make my posts less valid than your 297.

No failure. Massive success. ...they did it the hard way with no home court advantage for 1st/2nd round. Shawn was COY and they had 3 All-Americans on the team (Hamson, Gray and ?Boswell). ...I hope the WCC has an even stronger showing in the tourney in 2015.

Hate to tell you...Utah is not getting better talent then BYU. BYU is owning the recruiting battle against Utah right now. If BYU wants the Utah/Mormon kid...then they generally get them.

BYU gets exposure to Mormons. Fact. Very few non-Mormons are interested in playing women's Vball at BYU. Olmstead is a poor recruiter. He relies on the "Mormon-card". I think he has one non-Mormon on the team: C.Parker ...and she wasn't recruited by him. BYU is in for a big drop-off. Hamson gone. Gray is great but can't play back line. No depth. They'll do ok in the WCC, but nationally they won't make much noise in the future. Great performance in 2014. Congrats. But I don't see a repeat in the near future. They have a very athletic OH, and very skilled libero coming in '16.

I've heard that Mormons live in states outside of Utah. I think at least four of BYU's starters were from states other than Utah.

That's my point. If they want the Mormon kid then they usually get the Mormon kid. If they want the Utah kid, then they get the Utah kid. They rarely lose recruiting battles right now when those two variables are concerned. If they WANT them....then they'll get them.

Utah Mormons either hate or love BYU. No gray area. BYU's run may hurt Utah and Utah State, with in state kids, but we shall see. The out-of-state Mormons I'm guessing already come to BYU. Maybe BYU won't lose a Kristin Richards again! Although you really can't fault someone for going to Stanford.

I am pretty sure Hawaii has a large mormon population and I feel that the run along with the potential future success of Alohi will give BYU a good chance to snag even more players from Shoji.

Mormons aren't the majority to be sure. On the n. shore, yeah, but in town Hawai'i is a vast Buddhist/Shinto. Something as insider--a blast from the past--regarding UH's Wiltons. Jennifer Wilton was down between BYU and Shoji. BYU was offering five years of assistance; Shoji four. When it came down to it Jenny went with Shoji who countered with the five year$ al$o. Nothing special (after all the injuries). --- Btw, JW is of authentic Hawaiian blood (a rarity). past the four years, then, Burnice Pauahi Bishop insures that its kind prosper in the years moving forward.

@msrvs - my 4-5 doesn't make my posts less valid than your 297. True enough, but starting out with such a mean-spirited post says something... and it is not something that reflects well on you. None-the-less, welcome to circus.

He'll probably get an email asking him to please not say "rats ass" or any profanity in a press conferences. But I think all coaches should not use profanity, not just BYU.

I am not a Mormon and having lived in the avenues my allegiance lied with the U but I certainly don't think this run hurt Utah. Their success this year is great and shouldn't be overshadowed by BYUs. I think girls who want to go to Utah and compete in the PAC-12 will and BYU will always have a Mormon edge its a dream school for most Mormons. I felt dirty all season rooting for the Cougars I couldn't help but root for Olmstead and Hamson and Gray I knew they had the goods all season and wasn't surprised by their end of the season run. Good for them I think it will be difficult next season to repeat the same result but I think they will remain very competitive.
