Over the last couple of years, why are players leaving the Middle Tennessee Volleyball program. Tyler Richardson, Jale Hervey, Shelby Anderton, Kendall Howard, Alyssa Ivey, Lyndsey Purvis, Bri McCombs and this year they have four girls that are on a transfer list or no longer on a roster. What is up with that.

Given the state of early signing, the entitlement generation, and others, maybe we should look at just how many transfers should we expect from a healthy and well tuned volleyball program. I have no dog in this fight but it seems like between early decisions and unrealistic expectations, even a good volleyball program should expect a number of attrition. Just wondering what that number is.

I stated this before in 2 threads: Hot seat job question and potential . What's worse in Tennessee, the transfers at UT or MTSU? Many have left and are continuing to leave each program. Each program has past successes, but horrible last FEW years statistically and players moving on. I heard MTSU lost 4 already from this season and UT right up there along with them. Any more in the spring and both teams are going to have to rebuild once again drastically. I agree with previous posts in the "Transfer Thread and 2014-2015 Job Thread," why again are these coaches allowed to re-sign? I know kids who are questioning there decisions to commit to these schools. Sad to see and hear in general. Both programs ran down to the ground after having been very successful "MANY" years ago

Just wondering what that number is. Although a valid point in some areas, I honestly do not think that is the case with this program. Something is going on over there and from what I have heard and seen through the change of rosters, they need to figure it out or figure out a new staff. Didn't the assistant leave as well?

In today's world, once a player and/or family feels like they have been misled or lied to, or mistreated mentally/physically, it is time to transfer or just quit the sport. This is what happened @ MTSU. UT had similar experiences.

if you see who left this year its two setters and two liberoes. Looks like they saw the writing on the wall. I wouldn't hold this against the staff. If they think their sophomore setter is gonna run the show then why not grant releases to the other setters if they want. Now if they showed them the door with their foot on their butt then that's a whole different matter.

At the risk of redirecting this thread, who are the players looking to transfer from Tennessee?

After looking into it I can actually add the following from what I read and from keeping tabs on them this year: Haley Morton, Katie Bange, Kristina Headrick, Sloan Sullivan, Morgan Collett, Morgan St. German. That's 13 girls in the last couple years!!! In agreement....WHAT IS UP WITH THAT, some one shine light on this please

In some ways, I like the idea of transfers. It's almost like the free agent system in pro sports. If a player doesn't like her current team, she can test the market to see what her value is. This system allows many teams to get better with better players. Note the excitement that's generated among fans when they hear rumors of a transfer coming their way. Of course, it doesn't always benefit a team. The team may lose players to other teams and may also over-reach a player who transferred in and who didn't quite meet their expectations. Them's the breaks.

Here are some stats on players who have moved on: Jale Hervey (OH)-University of Central Florida: 3.47 kills per set, hitting percentage .275 Tyler Richardson (MB)-Ohio State University: .99 kills per set, hitting percentage .260, blocks per set .99 (Big 10 is the toughest confernce in the nation) Allyssa Ivey-Auburn (S/DS) (If I am not mistaken Tennessee player of the year) 434 digs, 422 serve receives, was recruited as a setter Bri McCombs-(L/DS)- Lipscomb 496 digs 4.35 d/s in Atlantic Sun Conference, 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Year. It seems to me that these players have gone on to other schools and are having very good seasons, again why did they transfer.

How do you build a program with athletes who are there for only a year? --Go talk with John Calipari.
