BVS appears to be missing from the trip photos. That changes things. With Nuneviller attempting to play OH, and BVS leaving, Murphy will necessarily be the libero. I still like Oregon's talent level and prospects as a team, but the early part of the season might be a bumpy ride trying to break in a new setter and libero, concurrently. With Ulmer as Coach, the possibility of a bumpy ride is ever-present.

Considering she went with the Oregon team to Europe .... All the Minnie girls went to Japan, then bolted. Do student athletes have to pay for trips like these or are they funded by the university/Boosters?

What’s with Ulmer’s personality, coaching philosophy, or management style? Is he the reason for the defections? Or is it simply players’ perceptions of playing time issues?

What’s with Ulmer’s personality, coaching philosophy, or management style? Is he the reason for the defections? Or is it simply players’ perceptions of playing time issues? He's a nice guy, smart enough, but still lacks maturity and experience, is still a bit insecure, and probably tries too hard to be liked. This was an astute observation, except that the leadership extreme isn't just from the change from Moore to Ulmer, but still exists in the difference between Ulmer and his main assistant. UO has lurched between leadership style extremes. Some players were going to get whipsawed. Hawai'i benefits.

It's too abstract with words that could mean anything. I prefer more concrete descriptions and explanations.

I said "abstract."
Also, assuming arguendo, that you're right, why would players defect because Ulmer is a "wimp"? I'd think people would defect from a hard-ass coach. I don't get the "wimp" at all. I don't believe such coaches exist. I don't even know what that means, frankly. He cowers when girls walk toward him?
