Cook is the same age as JM was when he took the USC men's head coaching position. Does that mean Cook will win the national title in his first season too? UW doesn't have Bryan Ivie though.

I suppose I understand the concerns some have over lack of head-coaching experience and age. But years of experience and being older doesn't automatically make anyone better at anything.
What I don't understand is how someone can so admire McLaughlin and yet be negative about this hire. Remember, Keegan Cook was hired by McLaughlin.

Yeah, hired as second assistant, not eventual head coach. Look, he may be great, but you can't say hiring a 29-year-old to be the head coach of a top ten PAC 12 team is objectively the best decision.

Actually, I can say that. Just like you can say that it's not the best decision. The reality is, only the people who made the hire can explain what their reasoning was...and only time will tell if they made a good decision. While I realize some will claim it was a different era, some very successful volleyball coaches got an 'early' start. 29 year old Dave Shoji hired as head coach at Hawaii. 26 year old Russ Rose hired as head coach at PSU. 20 year old Andy Banachowski hired as head coach at UCLA.

I think it's terrific that you are being optimistic instead of drinking heavily. it's not the right choice, but it's terrific.

Cook has been with the team for a few years and knows the girls. I would think they would be more comfortable with Cook than someone they don't know. From what I've heard the girls were smiles and happy about the announcement. I sure wish him the best of luck!

Maybe you didn't see the Volleyblog article where Cook says no one has approached him about transferring or leaving the team. Or maybe you are just assuming it will happen anyway. Or just looking for a reaction.
