When do the tranfers start? Maybe you didn't see the Volleyblog article where Cook says no one has approached him about transferring or leaving the team. Or maybe you are just assuming it will happen anyway. Or just looking for a reaction. Anytime a new coach comes in some players are pushed out or transfer on their own.

When do the assistants and support staff get the boot? Read Volleyblog before posting. Reading volleytalk is all my stomach can handle.

I think it's terrific that you are being optimistic instead of drinking heavily. it's not the right choice, but it's terrific. Who says I'm not drinking heavily? I never doubted that you were, but I would never tell a crazy person that they're crazy. I was just testing the depth of your denial. You were right at the beginning: UW has handled this whole situation oddly, and badly, from beginning to end.

Pretty good deal for UW if they are paying him $54,000.

Pretty good deal for UW if they are paying him $54,000. He's not a dumb guy. Washington coaches salaries are all a matter of public record and easily located online. He knows what JM was making and he knows what Gabriel is making. He likely knows that he is not going to make the salary JM made, but he also knows he is going to have to be paid more than his top assistant.

Pretty good deal for UW if they are paying him $54,000. That figure is for 2013, so it's only partial since Cook was hired in April of that year. His salary was roughly one fifth of the Top Dawg's.

Yeah, hired as second assistant, not eventual head coach. Look, he may be great, but you can't say hiring a 29-year-old to be the head coach of a top ten PAC 12 team is objectively the best decision. Actually, I can say that. Just like you can say that it's not the best decision. The reality is, only the people who made the hire can explain what their reasoning was...and only time will tell if they made a good decision. While I realize some will claim it was a different era, some very successful volleyball coaches got an 'early' start. 29 year old Dave Shoji hired as head coach at Hawaii. 26 year old Russ Rose hired as head coach at PSU. 20 year old Andy Banachowski hired as head coach at UCLA. Yes, but that was a completely different era, and not an equal comparison.

20 year old Andy Banachowski hired as head coach at UCLA. He was hired when it was a club sport and it was pretty loosely organized. The NAIA did not recognize it at the beginning.

that 1988 SC team was pretty well stacked. i can't remember a team just off the cuff that was so primo. you had aa Ivie as foy. aa's: Chris Martz--who turned down UW FB--as setter; tall, TALL Tom Duke as mb NCAA Poy; lawrence Hom (who could dig like nobody's business); and MVP high-flyin' Jen-Kai Liu at a pin.
memories
Cook will end up being another Steve Suttich (UCLA,,way back) and decent coach / Puget Sound VB commissioner back in the day. he was a cool dude and could play a great game on alki. i liked him. :-)

If JM and Keegan Cook were both recruiting the same star player from T-street, JM would win out every time right. Cuz who would choose to play for the apprentice when you have a chance to play for the master. T-street will be converted into a Notre Dame pipeline.
