Is she also perhaps experiencing anything different in regards to motherhood? I'm not sure if her child was living with her in Texas, or living with her parents or another family member while she focused on school and volleyball? If she was having any of the physical/time duties that come with motherhood (what I mean is that I'm sure it's mentally exhausting being so far away?) then that (physical) exhaustion is relieved now. (In addition to school and expectations as previously mentioned.) Mom lived in Austin her 4 years at Texas.
She had / has an excellent support system. She is smart to take advantage of her abilities and make some $$$ on the pro circuit to provide for herself and her young boy.I agree, very smart! I wasn't trying to suggest otherwise! Part of her progress now (she looks amazing) may be that she doesn't have the college expectations, the studying (both mentioned above), but also, the actual physical exhaustion that comes with taking care of a child. Even though her mom was in Austin, Haley was still having to exert a lot of energy with parenting (physically) that she is now relieved of for the time being. (Not saying she's not mentally going through it still - but the actual physical activity it takes to care for a child - even with help - also had to be wearing on her while in Texas.)

if she is developed more in 2-3 months, than she did in 4 years it is a knock on elliot and staff. What players have been markedly better immediately as pro's than they were in college? Maybe she just plays better for money! Why so sensitive? Its a knock on all coaches then. Off the top of my head other players I think became different players pretty quickly after getting out of the NCAA system: Hooker, Larson (maybe not in 3-4 months, but her attack swing improved 100%), Harmotto, Murphy, Hill, Gibbemeyer, etc. Not sensitive at all. I dont believe any of the players you mentioned made the type of jump people are suggesting Eckerman has made in this short period of time. ( I have no idea if she has or hasnt). I think it is probably more of an issue of having an underwhelming senior season than it is an out of this world first pro season.

Weren't all those players All Americans? That's hardly slacking off...

In almost every sport, there is a very strong improvement curve in the early 20s.

Its true..........these young women have not hit their athletic peaks when they leave college..............it can be 3-4 years down the line.
