5280 volleyball said, "There's one of two things going on in Provo: Either BYU is superbly deep, or McGown has no clue who his best 7 are."
I don't think it's one or the other. I think it's both. They have a roster of athletes who are closely matched in skill level and performance consistency and that is making it hard to figure out the best 7.

Honestly, BYU needs to keep a solid lineup in for an ENTIRE match. They keep switching every positions (except libero) and its gonna kill them in the future. my preference would be: OH: Jake Langlois, Brenden Sander S: Robbie Sutton Opp: Matt Underwood Lib: Jaylen Reyes MB: Joe Grosh, Price Jarman Switching players is gonna hurt!! I'd like to see this at Stanford for a full match if they can all play at a high enough level not to get benched. OH: Langlois, Sander S: Sutton Opp: Heninger Lib: Reyes MB: Hatch, Jarman Langlois and Sander started that very first match against Loyola, and they played like the newbie and the freshman that they are. Both are looking better, though neither are consistently good passers, and Langlois is struggling a bit right now with hitting. He's getting a lot of sets but not many kills. He's not a surprise anymore to teams, and they've been keying on him. They've picked up on his hitting tendencies, and he has yet to make the adjustments that will enable him to be more effective. He's still getting in front of the set too often and so not able to make good contact. On pass receive he gets lazy and doesn't move his feet, instead lunging forward with his upper body. Sander has benefited from the attention on Langlois. I think it's allowed him to become more comfortable and gain confidence that he was lacking before. Now that they are going to him more often, we'll see if he can keep it up. Setting is a weakness for this team. Neither is very good at the moment, but Sutton's placement is better and is able to set the bic well, unlike Heap. Both have a hard time setting the middle. I've seen what Underwood can do. I'd like to see Heninger get a full match to see what he can do before Dobbert returns from injury. It did take Dobbert a long time to get his timing and rhythm back last year after his early season ankle sprain, so maybe having him back won't make that much difference at this point in the season. Hatch isn't as dynamic in the middle as Grosh, but he's actually been putting up better numbers recently in blocking and hitting. Here's hoping I can actually watch Stanford's stream. I'll probably be switching between this match on Friday and the one with Ball State @ Irvine. But I've had such trouble with Irvine's stream that I'm not getting my hopes up, and Stanford's went down in the 5th set of the Irvine match too. I'd like to watch the Pepperdine @ Hawai'i match, but I haven't even tried their stream this year. Last year it never worked for me.

I haven't seen Jarman play, but I always thought Hatch was a great player, which leads to myself wondering why people want Jarman play over Hatch? I've watched all of BYU's home games this season, and I don't believe I've seen Jarman play.

I don't have stats but he hasn't been hitting well recently. Jarmin is a very solid replacement but if hatch starts to play well again he will retake the starting spot.

Against Ball State he played sets 2 and 3 both nights. I'd like to see him play one full match at Stanford at least. He reminds me somewhat of Devin Young both in his style of play and his temperament.

I'd have to agree...you don't gain or lose much by swapping them around the lineup.

I'd just like to see Jarman get more playing time because I think he's the one that has the most room for improvement and the most years left.
