I could change the title of the "Jim McLaughlin/Why did he bail?" thread to "McLaughlin quits Washington! WHY? Has there ever been a definitive answer to that question? The much, much, much more important question is why was Jim McLaughlin described as having "bailed" but Reed Sunahara was described as having "jumped" (as in "ship"? or "to a new opportunity" or "at the chance"? These, to me, are the real mysteries of life.

When it comes to pre-season polls, many are interested, but mostly in the sense of rubbernecking drivers passing an accident on the other side of the turnpike. Here's one that almost everyone can dislike: ranking the teams by the number of pages in their "2015" threads. The main attraction is one can create this poll without knowing anything at all about the teams involved (well, I suppose that may not be all that different from the requirements for voting in some of the other polls). Here are the results as of 3/5/15 at 1:59 p.m.: 1. "Future for Stanford" -- 280 pages (admittedly, this isn't really fair, as the Stanford thread goes way, way back, not just 2015. But I'm hoping for seed money for a project I have in mind -- "Make nyline rich" -- so I don't want to offend any Cardinal alums). Stanford clearly will win it all in 2015. 2. "Nebraska 2015" -- 62 pages. I think many of those pages were devoted to how deep is the snow in Lincoln, so perhaps this one should be adjusted. Kidding. Put down the snow shovels. 3. "Wisconsin 2015" -- 42 pages. Anyone care to guess how many times "Carlini" is mentioned in that thread? How high can you count? :). 4. "PSU 2015" -- 34 pages. Final Four, but not really close to the Finals. Then again, with boof, there's always a chance. 5. Hawaii -- 15 pages (originally overlooked -- unintentional oversight, Wahine fans -- please forgive!) 6. "Minnesota 2015" -- 14 pages. This one is a bit of a surprise (from a polling standpoint) -- but those Gopher fans are loyal and, apparently, chatty. 7. "Jim McLaughlin/Why did he bail?" -- 14 pages; "Washington 2015" -- 8 pages. OK, the Jim McLaughlin thread isn't specifically a "Washington 2015" thread, but an argument could be made that the two should be combined. So I've compromised -- putting them after Minnesota's 14 pages, but ahead of Texas. 8. "Texas 2015" -- 12 pages. Those Longhorns are surprisingly reticent. 9. "Illinois 2015" -- 10 pages. The Illini have a shot at moving into the top five, but Final Four looks like a stretch. 10. "UCI 2015" -- 3 pages. 10. "Florida State 2015" -- 3 pages. So that's the Top 10/11. Check it out at the end of the season for accuracy. To be fair, Wisconsin fans are fairly disciplined and put all the Wisconsin news on one thread, whereas Nebraska and Penn State are less disciplined - there's a Thon thread, for example, and other threads on bits and pieces of other teams' news events. So I think they need to be added up!

It was a psu fan( me) that started the very lengthy Holman thread so shouldn't that go to psu tally. Lol

Everyone read the boofism dribble posted on the PSU thread? That should have a 10 page deduction for scoring!

Using my logic of the disciplined UW fan, the 3 pages for Thon and 8 pages for Micha Hancock should put PSU back out front anyway. Also, there were about 4 JMAC related threads - what do those add up to? No discounts for dribble! Do you Savannah State has a shot?

That kind of crazy talk will undermine all the hard work that has made the Thread Length Preseason Poll among the most respected and influential polls out there. Emphasis on "out there." And yes, Savannah State has a shot. We can make it happen. That's the beauty of it ☺

Well then unfortunately you are going to have to make this a weekly or minimum monthly poll until season starts to keep the dribble flowing.

Nebraska has a huge lead. Time for some drivel. Not dribble.

Nebraska has a huge lead. Time for some dribble! Yep, and with boof talking to himself on the PSU thread that is basically a 2 for 1 post so PSU has just inched by you.....LOL
