UCLA just doesn't have the experience to close out matches. They looked so good early on and then it seems they got intimidated once UH started playing with some fire.

UCLA just doesn't have the experience to close out matches. They looked so good early on and then it seems they got intimidated once UH started playing with some fire. And that was a big factor. If anyone watches UH volleyball....they play with fire and intensity....Sedore jumping all over the court.....the team constantly communicating.....the bench firing up the players. That was no where to be found the first two sets. Once Jones came in and as usual....is more vocal and overtly emotional on the court.....it sparked the team to how they've been playing all season. Once Hawaii got the fourth set....deep inside I knew the fire and intensity as its been many times....would pull Hawaii over the top. Credit UCLA for putting that pressure on Hawaii. Hawaii needs to feel that type of urgency as the regular season slowly starts trickle down.

Major props to Siki for coming back offensively to help get the job done. They needed his offense and he delivered.
Another unsung hero: Zac Radner a potential heir apparent in the middle as its two starters are seniors. He held his own out there. Great job!

what happened with Jennings? his fault or hitters just not hitting?

what happened with Jennings? his fault or hitters just not hitting? I think it may have been a combo of bad passing, his predictable sets at times (partially due to passing), and a lack of fire by the team on the court. Emotionally, Jones is a complete fire cracker compared to Jennings. Jennings is simply smooth and steady. Charlie and co. probably figured they need energy back on the court ASAP.....and Jones more than brought that tonight. He has done that a few times this year. Imo Jennings is a trooper though and will bounce back. He'll start tomorrow I'm sure. Depth this year has been crucial to Hawaii. Don't know when was the last time UH had a depth of players in all positions that could come off the bench and fill in just fine?

Just back from the game! Talk about a nerve racking game to watch. UH was just flat at the beginning and Alex Jones was the vocal leader they needed on the court and UCLA just imploded. They are a young and talented team....Arnitz and Mitch Stahl are fun to watch and Hatch struggled against a very physical Warriors front line. Oh, and UH is now 4-0 on road when I've watched them play this season. Let's do it again tomorrow, hopefully they can sweep them off the court tomorrow.
