Nice comeback by Hawaii. What happened to Hartley, he has been an offensive option lately, but I know his passing is weaker than Feys.
The scary part about Hawaii is that they've never had all hitters hitting at all cylinders. Imagine if Siki/Sedore/Averill/Hartley(Fey) were on fire or even hit at least .350 during the same match.

Just back from the game! Talk about a nerve racking game to watch. UH was just flat at the beginning and Alex Jones was the vocal leader they needed on the court and UCLA just imploded. They are a young and talented team....Arnitz and Mitch Stahl are fun to watch and Hatch struggled against a very physical Warriors front line. Oh, and UH is now 4-0 on road when I've watched them play this season. Let's do it again tomorrow, hopefully they can sweep them off the court tomorrow. Were there a lot of Hawaii fans?

From what I saw when there, the gym was just way too quiet at the start. It felt like a practice, if that, slow and through the motions, and Hawaii's attack seemed lethargic. It picked up definitely in the third game with Jones' goofiness. Were his sets amazing? No. They were very sloppy to be frank, high and rather predictable, but it was the change of pace that triggered the whole team. When you have a team as a whole playing that flat, even when it's no ones' fault in particular, it simply takes a spark to get things going. Very impressed by the team for turning that around, and I think that it's very reassuring to know that the depth of Hawaii can turn things around when things are just slow and quiet. Props to Jones for being that team's firecracker when needed.

UCLA is a MUCH improved team from the beginning of the season, but they lack a sense of maturity and confidence. Give them a year or two and they'll be GOOOOOOOD Do you mean, middle of the MPSF, top of the MPSF or favorite to win it all?

You can say that about any team in the country. Usually if you hit .350 as a team you win. Reading through these hawaii posts, seems like the fans expect every player to have a career match every night. A little unrealistic in my opinion. Would like to see Hawaii with a quicker offense. Both Jennings and Alex run the pins too slow.

what happened with Jennings? his fault or hitters just not hitting? UCLA was serving well and UH just came out flat and was not passing well, which in turn didn't help Jennings cause to run the offense. Kupono Fey was truly instrumental in their comeback win in serve-receive. He came off the bench and steadied our passing (I haven't seen the stats, but he did pass a lot of balls last night) LOL. He also help neutralize the top serving team in the MPSF. I don't think it was truly Jennings fault. He is the better setter over Jones, but Jones just brings that intensity that was needed last night and what can I say, he is Fun to watch and is very comical on the court. UH needed that last night because it was soooooooo quiet in the arena that you could almost hear a pin drop. LOL

For a visiting team I would say Yes! Although we were non-existent the first two sets because UH passing was just awful but credit UCLA's tough serving. Kupono Fey help steadied the passing off the bench and Alex Jones was Fun to watch because he had so much intensity on the court that I even started to loosen up when UH was finally taking charge. It was so nerve-racking that I was telling my partner, I just about flooded the whole basement in Pauley.

Both Jennings and Alex run the pins too slow. That is inaccurate. No Hawaii fan expects every player to have a career night. That is overstating it. We expect them to simply play "Hawaii volleyball" that has gotten them as far as they have. The first two sets were really uninspired ball and a combo of a UCLA team playing up and capitalizing on that. I have watched pretty much every game this year and the last time they played like that (no urgency) was in the first game of the series @ Irvine. Quiet, deflated, just going through the motions. Needless to say, you have to at least acknowledge that Hawaii fans expected better because we know they have all the tools to be better. They found the energy after Jones came in....then we saw the real Hawaii team. Personally, id like them to run a faster offense....but like that saying, "if it aint broke, dont fix it." Its players at the pins like that little slower set. And its records proves that it has been extremely effective.
