I guess it is confirmed that Lauryn Gillis is transferring from USC to Wisconsin.

This is a good move for Gillis. I think that she was frustrated last year riding the bench. USC has enough depth this year in the Outside that she probably didn't want to compete with Bricio/Ruddins/Ford and with Lanier coming in next year.

For something like this, you might want to specify in the thread title which "UW" you are talking about.

We're thrilled over here in Cheese Land. I know she had a rough freshman year, but I'm confident that she'll be successful in our program.

I have high hopes that she will turn it around in Madison. Seems exactly the kind of player that Sheffield likes and should fit in to the culture perfectly.

Gillis still listed on the USC roster ... but maybe changes coming to the roster web page soon.

Gillis still listed on the USC roster ... but maybe changes coming to the roster web page soon. It's worth noting that although Gillis herself has announced the transfer on Twitter, and there've been newspaper articles on it, the program hasn't made any official announcement. I know there are NCAA rules about when programs can comment on incoming freshmen (after they've signed an NLI or financial aid agreement or accepted an admission offer). I'm sure there are also rules regarding when you can comment on an incoming transfer, but I don't know what those are. Can anyone clarify?

Oh wow... She and that Setter are going to be a good combo... I've heard wisconsin has a pretty decent setter. Maybe she can make gillus better. Her name is totally slipping my mind right now

Now Bates, Duello, or Gillis is gonna ride the bench. Who do you guys think is gonna take the L1 and L2 spots. If it's Gillis and Bates I don't see Duello fine with benching when she was a top 10 recruit. Maybe she'll transfer if she doesn't get playing time. I'm thinking Bates may just play DS for Duello or Kriskova.

I also don't see how USC does not use Brittany Abercrombie when she was the No. 4-ranked Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball.com. How does she ride the bench, when she was highly recruited. I see her transferring if she does not get playing time next year. Until USC gets a consistent setter they are going to struggle as a team.

Bates is a known commodity at OH and was a 6-rotation player, a primary passer, and Wisconsin's leader in hitting percentage last year, whereas Gillis didn't have a great freshman year, and Duello hasn't yet set foot on a college court. At this very premature stage in the game, my thinking is that Bates is a lock for one of the OH positions, Gillis and Duello compete for the other one, and Kriskova plays RS.
We're a bit light on DSs, so somebody else is going to have to play 6 rotations. My money's on it being Kriskova, and the other OH gets a DS for a few rotations.
