Pretty much because I was saying so before her junior year season had ended and most people here aren't good at recognizing talent (re: Plum). I wouldn't be surprised if you were one of those naysayers. You should dig up some of those old threads. I'm pretty sure a lot of us have been fans of Karsta for several years.

But Plum, notwithstanding her talent, hasn't really panned out anywhere professionally, irrespective of Karch.

Oh, I see, Ebony left USC because she is going to the USNT? That's why we are talking about Karsta Lowe, Plum, and Karch?

Everyone was laughing at me last year when I said she should be starting on the NT. No, everyone was just laughing at you.

For example Spelman, a lanky non-athletic back up opp from Stanford, was chosen by some Korean team over Bergsma: volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/58890/who-girlI mentioned very recently Berg wasn't even playing overseas after college and had to pay her own way to tryout for the NT. If Karch had imposed his drone offense system on Berg during tryout, she would've been cut too.

Don't the USAV directors recognize the great contributions you could make to the team?

Regardless of whether or not someone agrees with your assessment of Plum, what I am saying is that at some point, Plum's potential has to be realized by some tangible performance or results. Berg set the Minnesota Chill to a championship in the USPV final against a Chicago team that included Bremner and Zemaitis. The USPV only had four teams and lasted one season, but the asst coach on that team was Kevin Hambly, who was also an asst with the National Team, and he helped her get into the national team pipeline. Until Plum does something to boost her stock, it's all coulda, woulda, shoulda, so to speak.

Well Karch was excited about Plum before she graduated but that was before he control freaked the world's best hitter off the team so he wants to compensate with a blocking setter. Of course pro teams look to NT rosters for first pick. I can and do recognize talent outside of politics. The world's filled with shouldas, just check out my global warming thread in the politics forum, nothing more lamentable than near term human extinction.

Is it ironic that he control freaked the world's best hitter off the team then they won a gold medal for the first time in history?

Professional teams evaluate from available video. They don't offer contracts just based on who is on national team rosters. I'm guessing you have zero experience with how this works in the real world. Are you the only one who can "recognize talent outside of politics" in the volleyball world? If so this is a valuable talent you have and you should offer your services to the highest bidder. Prove your talent and you'll be rewarded quite well.
