This is absolute crazy talk. You aren't seriously comparing Haley and Kiffen's track record are you? In case you have forgotten At the helm for the Trojans, Haley has guided his teams to two national championships (2002 and 2003), six NCAA national semifinal appearances (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2011) and 13 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. In those 13 years, USC has received a final ranking in the top five, seven times under Haley. He is going to get fired if he has another bad season? Not to mention one has an operating budget of probably 20 million the other 2 million. You are starting to sound crazier than those who drew you into this with their silly comments about Texas. dm, you are going overboard. I'm not the one who initially brought up the head coaches of other sports programs. Let's be real. USC volleyball is on the decline; and, Mick isn't getting any younger. With Gillis and Nwanebu transferring out, it's just a matter of time before a change has to be made at the top. He better hold on to Lanier if he wants to turn thing around in his twilight years. It is not easy to make predictions in June about the upcoming season. I found this one funny. It would almost seem that great coaching put the pieces together to make this a great season after losing so much.

I give Haley a lot of credit for doing something different to utilize his talent as well as possible, and it has had great results to this point.

I give Haley a lot of credit for doing something different to utilize his talent as well as possible, and it has had great results to this point. I posted several times I was still a believer in Haley. I thought he could flip the script in 2015. USC started running a slightly quicker offense with Nwanebu. She hit quicks and her back sets were not NEARLY as high as Fuller/Roleder/Kaczor. Johnson coming in the spring was huge. I predicted Bricio was going to be the complete all-around player she is now, comparing her progression to Alex Jupiter. I also said she had to STOP tipping so much, and she's been so much better at this. You can hear Haley talk to her in the games, he'll say "Come on Sam.. play!!" And to me he means play physically, the soft shots won't fall often. I also thought USC's middles were athletic and were going to block more. So far, I'm not sold but Ogoms is playing pretty well this season. Now what I didn't expect: 14-0 start Lightning fast offense. Elise Ruddins in the middle. This USC team reminds me of the 2010 team. They've got some really talented young players who are hungey for respect after a disappointing season. The biggest question mark for me, as well as for last season, is USC's passing. Falyn was not a suberp passer, but she was ahead of Ford at this point in the season. I think Falyn was passing around a 1.9 her freshman year or so, but really improved her numbers as the season went on. USC needs to focus on improving Ford and Garrick. Johnson's hitting is not contributing much but she can dig and set and does not play like a freshman. Alice defensively still has so much work to do...

Haley is a lightning rod for criticism because he can be a little prickly, but he is one of the all-time great coaches in US volleyball history. Beyond losing two top players, it made the whole program look unstable. Now they are twice the team, and for a very conservative coach, took some big risks in coming out of his own comfort zone. He has done an amazing job.

Elliott is doing his magic at texas again, they are going in reverse. I admit too easy to comment after fact. I don't follow southie reasoning about Gillis and lesser extent Nwanebu. Correct me if wrong. Gillis transferred because little playing time and didn't see playing time in future. Mick didn't challenge her transfer. How does that contribute to USC volleyball in decline. Mick wanted to hold on to Nwanebu. Nonetheles she was injured and future a question mark. Back injuries are tricky stuff and hard to predict outcome. USC volleyball may be in decline. These have little impact one way or other. Mick will stay as long as he wants. I hope he stays for many more years. Still vibrant with sharp mind.
