Great news for Texas! Welcome, Ebony! I haven't wasted my time reading keeping up with this thread, so don't know much about her other than reading her blog about playing hurt, etc. Very impressive. I understand her talent - - how is her health? At this point, I hope Elliott vetted her health better than that of Baker. If she's healthy, her talent and experience could be huge for the team.

Really? They played Nebraska at Nebraska in the elite 8 in 2013. And swept them. How many times has Nebraska been swept at home EVER?! Isn't that when the majority of Nebraska's team was freshman? And you had KRob.....

Funny thing is, Texas is still sorely lacking in passing OHs and setters. Moving Paulina to Oh does not help passing at all. Y'all mean Texas can't pass the ball? McCoy is their only decent passer and she's not lights out. I don't get how Amy Neal sees court time given how she passes and defends at 5'10". Paulina can't.

Like it or not, most on this board will have the opinion that Texas has underachieved considering their incredible talent in the last several years. You can recruit to the cows come home but it doesn't always get the job done does it? Texas best talent in the last 10 years but they have to be able to do one thing better! PASSING! 1.5 things better...pass and set. Oh, and Chloe will likely be the only setter. Not sure how that will work given she's 5'6" on a good day.

What does her being 5'6" have to do with her setting? I've seen her play since she was a young athlete and she can pretty much drop a set in a bucket if you ask her to.

against the BIGS, Collins gets eatin for lunch on her net defense. Tool Party! Chloe only works with a 6-2. sorry but true
Hope they find a walk-on to run a 6-2 with her.

All these bitter Wisconsin Badger fans just because Ebony didn't want to go eat cheese; I guess it might be understandable if your program had been at all relevant in the last decade prior to the last 2 seasons . . .

naw, this is just a texas thing, and TEXAS SUCKS!!!!!!!! (because they ruined my old big 12) With or without Ebony, they will never survive Penn State or Stanford this coming season. American University might even get more than one set on them in their regularly scheduled NCAA match.

Go American University! I am excited to see her play her last season at American University this upcoming season.
Now getting back on topic, I think Collins will be ok during the season. However, wether or not they can beat Penn State or Stanford with her, well the odds are not looking to be in her favor.

I'm curious to see if badgers stay relevant when carlini graduates. They will still be good but I have my doubts if they stay up with the elite

However, wether or not they can beat Penn State or Stanford with her, well the odds are not looking to be in her favor. This brings up the interesting and controversial topic of early recruiting. If I'm not mistaken, Collins was the first setter to commit for the 2013 class, as an 8th grader. While she may have looked head and shoulders above the other recruits as an 8th grader, she was already at her mature height, and, who knows if Texas would have made the same decision if they had waited a couple of years to evaluate all the setters as high school athletes, including Carlini.

The answer is in Elliott's future recruiting classes at the setter position. OH position also.

Lets be real though, 99 percent of volleyball programs, if not SPORTS programs in general, wish they could have the success that texas volleyball has had over recent years.
