Anyone found good rates on hotels? Any recommendations? Trying to keep the price low! Will you have a car? If not, stay downtown, so you can just walk everywhere. If you will have a mode of transport, you could consider the hotels right across the river in Council Bluffs, which are known for being less expensive than in Omaha. Plus, they're closer to the CenturyLink Center than the similarly lower-priced ones in midtown, so I hope that helps.

Not sure how popular Airbnb is in Omaha, but that's always a good alternative if you don't want to stay at a hotel. EDIT: Apparently, pretty popular: www.airbnb.com/s/Omaha--NEGood choices between private rooms/ private houses. Quite cheap too, my goodness.

I went to a place called "Mahogany Prime" a few years ago, and I think I walked out about 5 lbs. heavier and a few hundred dollars lighter. I went with the bone-in Filet Mignon as my main course. I have say that was one of the best steaks I've ever tasted.

Is Stella's, the best hamburger place ever, still in Bellevue?

I will try it next time I'm in town, but it might be a few years since I don't often have a reason to do business in Omaha.

So, people of Omaha, or frequent visitors... What are some fun things to do in the area? Will be there for the entire event. I don't really know much about the area. Open to any suggestions!

I've been to Omaha many times for the College World Series. Just keep telling yourself "I'm here for the Volleyball" and everything will be all right.

The Henry Doorly Zoo is frequently rated as one of the best in the world. The Old Market is close to the arena and has lots of dining options. This website: Visit Omaha should have lots of information and you can look into activities you may be more interested in! Hope this helps.

If you are looking for Czech food then you can try the Bohemian Cafe, on south 13th North of the HDZ.

I mean, I think the worst part about getting to Omaha is driving through Iowa... or so I've been told. Looking forward to it, actually. The Heartland.
