Sure, she struggled a bit at the beginning of the set, but the team scored successive points of her setting the slide and she has a better connection with the RS.

Where did Turner play? She is decent. She seems to be aware of the court. Turner is more than decent. She carried the Boilermakers while at Purdue.

FREE STACEY signs have appeared at Wstern Empire matches. Stacey was kicked off the Western Empire roster because she is Canadian, and foreign players are not allowed in the PVL. Of course she played last year and was the MVP. Western Empire officials heard about this rule after they arrived in Detroit and self-reported the violation to protect the team and the Region from a forfeit if this was discovered after the fact. Stay tuned for something hitting the fan.

Good win by North Texas. Western Empire suffered because they had no setter.

Actually, this rule has been in the books from the beginning of the PVL. It brings up numerous situations. Does Western Empire now have to forfeit last year's championship? Why was there no appeals process? What about several other foreign players that used false American addresses? Why didn't Western Empire officials know about this rule beforehand? Their Regional Commissioner is a PVL Director. Etc. That's why I mentioned the fan.

Why do we even refer to these teams by names like North Texas or Western Empire? How about "Team of a bunch of Ringers #1," "Team of a bunch of Ringers #2," etc. Never mind a Canadian playing; it's a joke to even slightly imply that these rosters represent a given USAV region.

It is not the Olympics. Hometown doesn't matter. In Basketball, Jalil Okafor was born in Arkansas, played high school ball in Chicago, went to Duke in North Carolina for college and is likely headed to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. When you put money on the table this is what happens.

My thoughts on the tournament (yes, watched live)....Hancock and Van Orden were clearly the 2 best setters of all teams. Van Orden is consistent -- her placement is on point. Hancock was so much cleaner than her days at PSU...her placement, defense, and blocking have improved. She was able to set the slide more consistently...and poor Plum...she struggled with accuracy. Her back sets were a mess. Bell was much more effective with Van Orden, but passing wasn't consistent enough for her to get things going (and she's slow). I still think Stacey was the best player not playing...lol. McClendon, Kingdon, Bell, and Sareea Freeman all played well...I'm surprised they're not getting more attention from Karch.

In Basketball, Jalil Okafor was born in Arkansas, played high school ball in Chicago, went to Duke in North Carolina for college and is likely headed to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. When you put money on the table this is what happens. Last I checked, the NBA is a Professional organization and UNC, as a member of the NCAA, is in no way bound to regional rules of eligibility when selecting student-athletes. "The PVL is not the Olympics," but it is sponsored by the USAV, a non-profit, amateur athletics organization that is comprised of regions. These regions (who are the real sponsors), have EXCEEDINGLY strict guidelines on player eligibility that involve residency in every other facet of their existence. The members playing in any given region reside in and represent THAT region. Oh, and they are paying significant dollars to play vball for that region. I certainly don't have any problem with the existence of the PVL; I just don't see the logic/justification of connecting these teams with USAV regions,...unless it is to, at least in part, USE the regions' coffers to fund this league (filled with players who have barely ever even set foot in the USAV region they are supposedly representing). That's all.
