Oh, so a bic is technically when the back-row attacker rises and attacks the ball behind the middle, who's landing from a fake attack? Thanks for the clarification! Indeed, the bic is very common in the men's game. I remember seeing that play successfully executed by Zenit all of last season in which León came soaring from the back row right behind Apalikov to get the kill. I admit, though, I can't recall such a play on the women's side.

And Banwarth! Thanks for remembering Banwarth! Banwarth actually played there for 4 years and Robinson who only played for one season gets more recognition as a husker. I find that very ironic. lol. Yeah, I consider both players to be Huskers, and I know Robo wants to be considered a Husker. Also, Banwarth has always been applauded, especially by fans of Nebraska on this site, who perhaps recognized that she received little attention or accolades while in college. Whenever Kayla comes back home to Lincoln for home matches, she always gets standing and roaring ovations by the fans.

Womens teams don't run it as fast as the men yet but the offenses have been catching up.

We haven't seen it much lately for USA with the libero playing middle back. We used to run something faster with Hooker.

Oh, I would have considered that to be a standard pipe attack, similar to the Vine loop that Joe posted of Nic. USA coaches had a name for this play, although I can't remember what it was. It was talked about a couple of years ago when they decided to start running everything faster. It's a quicker backrow set to a hitter coming from left back.

Although "Nic on the Bic" has a nice ring to it, is this set really a bic? The set seems so high. Has bic basically replaced 'hitting out of the pipe' for the women's side? I would like to see a true bic where someone like Hooker or Hodge (Easy) hit from the backrow, while the MH draws in the opposing blockers. Something like this (at 47:06)? Check out 1:45:05, in the second replay can see Hooker's hitting the ball about a 1.5 feet below the set's apex, little slower than men's but faster than anything Fawcett can hit.

My favorite part of the article is the claim that there will be "huge" television interest in the USA for the Omaha Grand Prix matches.

Does anyone know the feeling of the current players regarding Destinee's absence from the team? At least those who played with her in the last quad (Larson, Glass, Akinradewo, Hodge, etc)

Destinee has apparently chosen the path she wants to follow, maybe it's time to let it go!

Destinee has apparently chosen the path she wants to follow, maybe it's time to let it go! She's chosen the path that is available to her, not necessarily the one she wants. But in any likelihood, it's not going to be a path to Rio.

Will The system enable her to reach her full potential as she does on her club teams?

I think that Larson is most effective offensively when she is paired with a big hitter, which relieves some of the scoring pressure from her and allows her to use her hitting versatility and smart shot selection.
