How do older players like Hildebrand who's never been in the Olympics keep motivated to make the team when the odds seem unlikely? Do national team players get paid? I wonder when the cons outweigh the pros from training with the national team with a goal in mind and have this goal slip away everyday with the return of other players like Hodge and the emergence of younger players. Younger players can still train with the team with the hope that if they don't make it to Rio, they can improve enough to make the next one.

Side note/question: Is there any chance that Inky makes the Rio roster or is the timing just not going to work? I'd really like to see her make it over Dixon, Gibbe, Adams, ect. Huge fan of Inky. However, she isn't good enough, right now, and too many in front of her are doing a great job. Rio is a long long shot for her, imo.

Agree, I even think Jordan struggles at first to adapt to the 'system' - hence the slow starts. Will The system enable her to reach her full potential as she does on her club teams? I think that Larson is most effective offensively when she is paired with a big hitter, which relieves some of the scoring pressure from her and allows her to use her hitting versatility and smart shot selection. Yeah, I completely agree. I.E. Gamova, DLC. I think Larson can be Team USA's Most Valuable Player based on her all around game but should not be put into the position where she has to be our best hitter. She is not a Kosheleva, Zhu Ting or a KYK. I think Karch recognizes that and luckily last season Murphy and Hill did pretty well. Hopefully we'll see strong output from our OPP and 2nd outside this season as well. Maybe Lowe and Easy step up?

Something like this (at 47:06)? Check out 1:45:05, in the second replay can see Hooker's hitting the ball about a 1.5 feet below the set's apex, little slower than men's but faster than anything Fawcett can hit. Niiice play! Check out the rally at 1:36:36. Harmotto goes back to the service line and miraculously keeps a shanked dig by Hooker in play, and Jordan later gets the point OOS from the back row. Great hustle by Team USA!

Más o menos; Jordan had a fabulous FIVB Club World Championship without DLC or a big terminator relieving some of the offensive pressure, and she led all scorers on her team (Yilmaz was second on the team in points) throughout the tourney.

Oh, I would have considered that to be a standard pipe attack, similar to the Vine loop that Joe posted of Nic. USA coaches had a name for this play, although I can't remember what it was. It was talked about a couple of years ago when they decided to start running everything faster. It's a quicker backrow set to a hitter coming from left back. 30

You know that flattery will win my heart every time. Flattery... and Chipotle. Word. Chipotle never disappoints! And we are all very gracious, because it's going above and beyond for the fans of Team USA! I hope you receive financial compensation on your data plan when you and your colleague stream these matches online for us. Both Periscope and Youtube are data-intensive, so I hope you don't have overages!

They called it a "30," but they didn't run it along the left sideline. They ran it in the same zone as the gap set. The set to Destinee from the previous video of the Brazil match in London (that they ran from the back row over the slide hitter's route) was called a C, I think? I don't remember that one.
