Very diverse and talented group of young men. Looks like they did another great job evaluating talent from coast to coast. A few question marks next to a couple of the guys but as a whole looks to be very solid, especially in the OH category with tons to choose from.

Wow 11 OH to choose from. And only 5 middles. And looks like Douglass and Worsley will have to battle it out again haha

The middle blockers are pretty set with Oberender, Resnick, and Stadick, who's gonna take the 4th spot?

Last year's roster had 1 Setter, 1 Libero, 3 MB's, 3 Opp's and 4 OH's. Do you think they would change much from last year? With the group of OH's, I could see going with 2 OPP's and 5 OH's (with Ma'a as an OH/backup Setter).

Interesting, the setter of the tournament last year is not in the team as a setter. Josh is probably the sure thing, the rest up in the air.

Any of these boys going to Stanford, Loyola or UCLA? Matt Klassen is going to Stanford.
But I see what you did there. I am sure all of the players are well deserving of a spot on the training team and we will see where it goes from there.

Interesting, the setter of the tournament last year is not in the team as a setter. Josh is probably the sure thing, the rest up in the air. But remember, even though Ma'a was listed as a setter on last year's team, he was playing opposite in the first two matches, and then came in to set the rest of the way after Tuiniga hurt his hand in the second match and couldn't play anymore. Hence my previous post that they may go with one setter and have Ma'a avail as a backup.

Don't be surprised if they take Josh as a true setter, and then one or two of the other guys listed as a setter or opposite that can play both (Ma'a, Wexter, McGarry, and I think that Noah Dyer has done some setting?).

Remember some of these guys on the training team probably made it so that Keller, shabooyah and berzins could get a better look at them as they are recruiting them

Remember some of these guys on the training team probably made it so that Keller, shabooyah and berzins could get a better look at them as they are recruiting them Considering most of these guys have signed their National Letter of Intent it's a bit late for these coaches to "get a better look at them" in order to recruit them. Not to mention it's not like this is football or basketball where it's hard for coaches to see all of the top level players. These coaches can simply go to a single tournament in July and see just about any player they may want to recruit in a 4 day period. If the player is good enough to even be considered for the YNTT, Keller, Shabooyah, and Berzins already know plenty about whether they would fit in with their program or not.
It never makes sense to me why people have to go out of their way to diminish the accomplishment of the 25 kids who have worked very hard throughout their volleyball careers to get to where they are today. Congratulations to all 25 of the kids who were deserving of a spot on the training team. Personally knowing 2 of these 3 coaches, I highly doubt any of the 3 are going to risk leaving behind a player who can help them win a gold medal simply to ensure their recruits receive extra attention and accolades.

Agree completely. Also to combat the political recruiting point, if these kids are getting recruited by the likes of Loyola (2x nat champ), UCLA, and Stanford they must be pretty talented. Excited to see what this group can accomplish and curious how much TJ will participate with this group.
