LMU may be do well, even with the loss of Dewitt and Keil. That was their only loss, big loss yes, but the core of the team will be back. They brought in a kid from Tennessee to replace Dewitt but she was injured for the spring matches so didn't get to see her play. But even with out her they had a good spring. I believe they split with UCLA, beat Arizona and split with USD, made SDSU look like a high school team. Of course the "core" didn't do so well when Dewitt got hurt last year, so we'll see. Did you by any chance get to see any of the matches in person? Who stood out to you? I really hope the transfer outside hitter and one of the freshman can step up for this LMU team.

I did see some of the matches. Spocile was herself, great player. Lindsay Carr, one of the freshman was the other OH, she did well. Held her own for sure. Really looked good at the serve line. She brought them back against SDU on a 7 point serve run with a couple of aces. I didn't feel like anything was missing at the middle, defense and serve receive was spot on and the setting looked good as always. The one thing I didn't really see is the power that Dewitt had. But it didn't seem to hurt them.

Any chance one of the freshman could take that middle spot?

Mirabello was back for one day, Mirabello and Casillas split time of the right, with Carr and Sponcil on the left.

USD and Gonzaga with the hardest schedules? Good schedules should help with the RPI of the conference, and should also help them prepare for the NCAA tournament. Except for BYU, all of the other teams did not do well in the tournament.

WCC added sand volleyball as a conference sport. Does that mean all schools in the WCC are adding it now? www.wccsports.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/060815aaa.htmlAnd since this is the indoor thread... Is this going to help indoor recruiting in the WCC and help strengthen the indoor conference?

Just wanted to update what was going on in the WCC ( I started this thread so I feel obliged to do something haha)
USD- Alaysia Brown is still doing well even though her career as a Torero is now over. She won the WCC Scholar Athlete of the Year Award and won the WCC Post Graduate Scholarship. She was also named a finalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Great to know that she has had much success in both the classroom and on the court. It will be interesting to see if she decides to pursue volleyball as a career or not. Also, incoming freshman Lauren Fuller won an AAU national championship with her Sports Performance team. Look forward to seeing what she does this upcoming season.
USF- Valentina Zaloznik is currently playing with the Slovenian National Team. Loved seeing her play for USF and I am excited to see where she goes in her volleyball career!
Saint Mary's- Incoming freshman Sarah Chase is currently training with the national team. Hopefully she can have a good impact for this Saint Mary's team after a very disappointing season last year. Also, former Gael standout Mandy Bible will return as an assistant coach.
BYU- Heather Olmstead is now taking over as head coach of the cougars. Shawn Olmstead will take over the men's program at BYU. I was hoping Shawn Olmstead would stay with the women's team because I believe Alexa Gray was his first ever recruit and it would have been nice to see them work together in Grays senior year. Alexa Gray had a tryout with the Canadian National Team but I am not sure of the results.
Gonzaga- Savannah Blinn is currently with the US Collegiate National team that is playing in China as an opposite. Hopefully she can take her experiences and elevate her game even more because their 2015 schedule is very challenging.
Pacific- The players got back from a great trip to Europe, where they played against some great competition. Although Kat Schulz's departure is unfortunate, they still have several great players on the team, led by Lexi Elman. Hopefully this Pacific team can use their experiences in this trip to create some good team chemistry and play well when season comes.
Pepperdine- Their recruiting class was named 22nd best in the nation, headed by Jenna Tunnell who was named Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year and was also a 1st team under armor all american. With the additions of other great players such as Heidi Dyer and Lara Dykstra this team will look to improve next season.
Sants Clara- They finished up their spring season and I believe they went 9-2 in sets, winning all of their games. They are looking to make some noise next year and are setting big goals for themselves.
LMU- LMU's recruiting class got highest honorable mention. Their recruiting class looks to have a lot of potential, and some of them could potentially start when season comes. Sponcil capped off a great sand volleyball season with All American Honors. LMU also seemed to get a big commitment from someone according to Tom Black's tweets.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">A BIG TIME commitment from a recruit today = a great day for the Lions! <a href="https://twitter.com/LMU_Volleyball">@lmu_Volleyball</a></p>— Tom Black (@tblackvb) <a href="https://twitter.com/tblackvb/status/602983754953457664">May 25, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Any idea who this commitment could be? I don't think Tom Black has tweeted an announcement like this before.
Can't wait for season!

Cailtin Dewitt has signed a contract to play professionally in Switzerland. I believe she tried out for the Korean Volleyball Federation, but decided to play in Switzerland. Litara Keil has also signed a professional contract to play in Germany.
Are there any other players that are going to play professionally soon? Maybe Samantha Cash?
Also, does anyone know the 2016 commitments from any of the WCC schools?
I know for sure that LMU has Tess Reid who plays for KC Power and made All Tournament Team at Nationals. They also have the libero from Arizona Storm. That sounds like it could be a good class.

Has she already committed to BYU? I don't think so. She's a 2 sport athlete, also. On another note, the oldest Hamson who is 7'3", is going to walk on to the BYU basketball team when he returns home from his mission.

Tough injuries for her too throughout her career. I've always loved Keil's all-around game. Physical, athletic, and smart.
