Yeah right. Short on details aren't you? Why won't you recognize excellence where it exists. Even Micah Ma'a, from PacRim, had to acknowledge that fact: "the HBC is an unreal team,” said Ma’a, who was named the 18U Open MVP. “I find myself watching them and just being in awe of what they can do on a normal basis." This is the same team that almost went all the way playing in the 18's bracket last year!! What a show these guys put on! Boys volleyball would be a huge snooze-fest with the likes of the HBC. Whether you like it or not, boys volleyball owes a debt of gratitude to HBC, TJ, Josh, etc, etc.

But yeah, these douches invented the game. Thank God for them.

No one should be surprised that folks were cheering for Pac Rim in the 18s finals. Don't care if pac rim flew in 5 guys from out of state. It will be interesting to see how much staying power HBC will have now that their flagship team is gone. Their whole club attitude doesn't work unless you're winning. It was fitting that their fans started doing the H B C cheer towards the end of the 2ND game and it just seemed to fizzle out. WHAT?

What happened to the rule that a player may not switch regions for the purpose of attending Nationals?

What happened to the rule that a player may not switch regions for the purpose of attending Nationals? Micah never renewed his usav hawaii membership from the 2014 season so the only usav region he was a member of this season was norcal. This was planned out for some time.

So he did not play tournaments 2014-2015? And what about the other last minute recruits that have been discussed?

There are things that good coaches do to build team camaraderie and build confidence and keep players loose in order to get their players to play better. I get that is what behind some of the antics of HBC. But they go to far with it. Instead of trying to elevate the play of their own players, they try to get into the heads of the opposing team so the opposing team plays poorly. I don't find that entertaining. And I really wonder what parents are thinking when they pay coaches that encourage that type of behavior.
There is a fundamental difference between bringing in a player to elevate the play of a team and having a coach instruct the players to stare down the opposing team to try to intimidate the opposing team so the opposing team plays poorly. One elevates the play of the match.

Puh-lease! Where is everyone's indignation that Pac Rim had to take a player from Hawaii (who ends up being the MVP), to live with them two weeks before J.O.'s, in order to beat the HBC 18's team!! What is that?! That's great coaching?! What a joke. If you really care about a level playing field, call a spade a spade. Yeah I guess HBC didn't do the exact same thing with a kid from AZ. Oh wait... But wait, you're just calling a spade a spade here, right? The difference is, it worked for Pac Rim. HBC Choked...

Sounds like he was a perfect fit for HBC . Let's just say no tears were shed when he left AZ.

The guy is a piece of work.

I will say this. Not every player in HBC displays juvenile behavior. No one ever talks about Josh or Blake Harkland. Two very respectful players that are also phenomenal players.
But yes I do not condone the HBC chant during the title match. That was stupid and in hind sight they probably would say the same. Best of luck to all of those players because a lot of them have a bright future!

TJ improved miles every year in this regard, he's just a very competitive kid. The Liberos sweat pants however, that's what made me happy to see them lose.
